A few more...

Marshall Freakin' Willanholly (left)!

I must have told Marshall 1,000 times, "if you want to podium, leave the DH bike at home!"
Looks like he took my advice! (DW-LINK equipped Iron Horse 6 Point)

A few more are on the way....

Note: My Brother did not get as many clean pics as he would have liked.
Camera issues. Rain on his lens. Lighting issues.
Stay tuned...

I guess you haven't heard of my powers of crash yet!! Sorry bout that...;)

I'm guessing there may be more??

OUCH! you okay seany boy? Sharky, that's is DEFINITELY a 10-15 dollar shot right there.

Thanks for the pictures all in all it was a bad run but a fun race!

I am fine, nothing bad happened just some cuts but hey its mountain biking its bound to happen! Lets hope I have a better run next race :)

I believe that there is one RR that is missing:?:

I think its a story that may inspire others to give it a try.

Looks like ya'll had some fun out there. I had a descent Sat. morning practice, felt pretty good and the the legs started to feel a bit sore. Figured it was from my workout on Thursday. Nope, not that easy ... ended up I came down with what my wife tells me was the flu but I do not get sick so it must have been something else. Either way it felt as though I lost 15lbs Saturday night and was dehydrated as hell come Sunday so I missed out on all the fun.

Oh yeah,
Aaaaaaaaaaa Todd ... You're pretty fast but ya might want to leave the superman antics to ... well ... Superman.;)

Great shot Sharky.

My 1st DH race EVER!!!

I'm hooked!!!

It all started when Nam and Neil took a long drive up to San Jose for a Demo - I got this silly call, telling me they think I should focus on riding DH. I've always been more comfortable going down the hill than up, sooo.
A few weeks later this really pretty SS showed up, the guys started taking me out on some local DH stuff even Sarah (sauce) took us ladies out to practice the rock garden at the wall one weekend.

So I got this wild hair that I should try racing - with not much practice under my belt I went for it.

This is a repost from the ladies forum:

I was shakin in my BOOTS!!!

Well it was the most fun i've EVER had!! I took a big drop (instead of the little one I had practiced) right out of the 1st corner and went down hard, bent my brake, it really shook me up - I got back up and went on...With my brake lever bent I would pull a whole bunch of brake and basically go over the bars everytime I used it, in front of anyone with a camera #-o(oh my will they have some good crash pics of me) I let the guys behind me pass, I fixed my brake and finally pulled it together enough to finish the race clean.

I got 3rd by default (3 in my group) and I was way behind them but it didn't matter - Kim and LaLa were awesome and waited at the finish to cheer me in. I cried!!!

Huge Hugs to Nancy!! Yesterday she spent her morning preriding with me, showing me the lines and making me redo them if I didn't get em. I rode most of them cleanly today. Nancy - during the race I saw you and knew I had to get back on the bike, focus and ride the lines we practiced. Your face up there made me go!!!

The thing i'm most proud of is a nasty rutted out turn that I walked everytime yesterday - I had convinced myself i'd walk it today - I actually cleared it during the race:bang:

I'm hooked!!!

Honestly - now that the adrenaline rush has gone down and i've got brusies on my thighs that look like tire tread, i'd say - I have a ton to learn. The pressure got to me - I crashed in spots that I should have cleaned, I know my brakes being messed up didn't help but still. I don't think I ever took a deep breath, as a matter of fact I was in tears or close to it the entire time. I knew I could ride this stuff!! but couldn't put it together under the preasure.
My run was not pretty - at some points in the run I know it looked and sure felt like I had zero business being there.
I know now not only do I need to be able to clear the sections during practice but I need to ride them FAST and without stopping several times.....

All in all it was a great lesson with many more to come.

See everyone in 2 weeks...Maybe this time I can make it down with less crashes.

BTW - the vibe at Fontana is AWESOME :bang:

nicely done traci!!! that night at sushi i could kinda hear it in your voice that you weren't too sure if you were going to follow through with the race. im glad ya did, next time i'll be there to heckle, errrr cheer for you!!! :D

sharky, you are crazy for sitting where you were to get those shots! next time might i suggest one of those big umpire pads from the 80's!

Alright, I guess I will add my RR.

First let me say that I HATE riding in the mud.

I showed up on Saturday to get some practice in but wasn't able to get as many runs in as I would have liked. The weather report for Sunday was more promising so I showed up extra early to work on a couple of spots that were giving be problems. I hiked up and ran the lower rock garden once and then figured I would head to the top for a couple of full runs. I didn't get half way up the pavement before the sky opened up on me, did I mention that I hate riding in the mud. The weather did cooperate for a while and I was able to work on the other trouble spots.

Fast forward to race time. My run started out really well. The course had firmed up quite a bit better than I expected. The first 3 turns were uneventful but then as you have seen in Sharky's pics thing started to go south. Well after taking a sample of some of the finest dirt Fontana has to offer, I picked my self up and tried to get back in the game.

All in all not the race run I was hoping for but what can you do.

Congrats to all the racers that braved the elements in the name of a good time. Also a special thanks to all the spectators and photogs that came out in less than ideal conditions to cheer us on, you guys :bang::bang::bang:

Mat, I wasn't playing superman, I just saw a quarter on the ground and figured I would pick it up.

BTW-Sharky, I think you owe me some money now.

im wondering if you wear a sharky jersey if thatll break the sharky curse?
One of my friends stuck a "Sharky" sticker on his helmet...need I say more  you're just asking for trouble marking my name anywhere on your person. Look close you can see the sticker. A beer after the race might do it and I don't mean an empty one DirtyMike:mad:
