Seems based on times from the 1st and 2nd XC races that the courses were different. Can anyone provide detail? Any new sections from last year?

 

There was only one small change from the first race. The new section that was cut right at the beginning of the lap was cut out this race, too sloppy after all the rain, the rest was the same. I would guess one minute shorter per lap is all.

 

Seemed like the wet dirt was much slower than last races' dry sand. Faster going down, but the flats were ridiculously slow.

jfromlv is correct about the course being slightly shorter.

In addition to not doing that new section in the beginning, pros and experts did not do the National Climb this race, but did do 4 laps instead of 3.

 

This is awesome, my first DH race and whoever put this video together did a great job of getting a large chunk of my section in at the 2:15 point (although I didn't live up to my STR name which would have been funny to catch on tape). I'm always easy to spot riding my big blue bike, YOUR MY BOY BLUE! Big thanks to all the photog's out there also, I've already seen some pretty cool shots of the ol' 771.

Anyways this racing thing is pretty fun and I might be on the road to addiction, we'll see. I didn't like the epic long wait between end of practice and my beginner run though, got to antsy. There is nothing like going head to head with an Atherton, nice guy, got to chat a bit in line waiting for the shuttle. (And by head to head I mean he went super fast and I watched him go super fast, even that was hard to manage.) Maybe I'll see you all out there for the next race?

 

I noticed on the flier they had trials? Did anyone sign up how was it??? Pics...
