The start is always at the top of the hill. At the end of the paved road you go up the hill past the water tower. Continue on until you get to the top of the first hill.

-The XC course was pretty much marked as of last week with pink spray painted arrows on various rocks/intersections.

-As of today, it was much better. Donny put up the signs and white chalk arrows on even more parts for those who don't know the trail.

-The XC course is still sandy(er?) than it was this winter as of 10am this morning.

-When we left at 1pm or so, Donny had his SRC trailer pulled up and was starting to unpack some stuff. I think I saw tools so maybe he's going out for trail maintenance right now? There was no trail changes since I was out there last week.

-I rode it this morning with Tara and Grace. Oh what fun that was :bang:

Didn't you see that he raced motocross? From his comment about knowing rocks and downhills, I assumed he raced desert. And so considering that he was a likely a desert racer, I'm sure he knows passing etiquette when it comes to racing: "Get the f out of my way or I'll use you for traction." Fallen riders and their bikes are also fair game for added traction. None of that whimpy, "On your left" stuff! Desert racing tactics are very different - and a lot more fun, I think. Spectating XC would be a lot more fun to spectate if there were more desert racers out there.

Keep in mind that I wrote that with a fair bit of a tongue-in-cheek laugh.

Anyone know the answer to this:

For XC...there was no CalState run by SRC. So, to be in the running for the overall, they count the winter series, NMBS, and Fall Challenge (tomorrow)?

What if I don't do the Fall Challenge but I am the only other girl in my age group (sport 19-34) who is an SRC member and raced (Allison moved up to expert)?

Would I get the overall by default or not if I don't race?

You will need to race...and finish, or Allison will win overall.

    In two categories?

Rightly so...she beat me at every race. I'm just not sure what Donny's rule is about that and was trying to find out.

In any case, I wasn't planning on racing (and plus, if I 'win' sport, doesn't that mean I have to move up ;) )

No, you don't have to move up. There are participant minimums that aren't met.

I have a dilema. I want to race but I have my kids this weekend. So I will skip Saturday, but if anybody can keep an eye on the little ones for my run, I will race. If not, we will come out to cheer you all on.

Huge thanks for posting the pics from the 22nd. I'm still trying to figure-out how I ended-up where I ended-up wrecking in this section. I remember trying to miss some big rock while I was wrecking (already far off course) and I used the wall behind the dude in the white shirt to help myself up.
Hope everyone had a great day to day.

no RR's from the XC gang? very surprising. maybe this will inspire some...

course, as mentioned above, was much sandier than during the winter series. a group and i pre-road last weekend and from what i could tell, no trail maintance was performed since then. fine by me!! being my 6th race there, it kinda felt like coming home. first attempt in the sport class (2 laps) and managed a 2nd in my age group, surprising, and drawing strainge looks/comments from others in my field.

great day for riding - nice temp. also great to see some familiar faces.

and when it was over, they gave me a pink jersey for my efforts. good times, see ya next year!
