Anyone know what the deal is for the series that included Bonelli, Mt. Sac, and lastly this one? It's not the Southridge Series it is a different one so it's not a part of the banquet (I'm vaguely remembering "Triple Crown" from somewhere :?:). How does that work?

Maybe I am missing something, :?:, but I've searched that page and they don't have anything about the race at Fontana on there, except where they've mentioned:

"Changing things up for 2008, the SoCal Triple Crown Series has a new format. This year, the Mt. SAC Fall Fat Tire Classic has joined the Incycle Cross Country Challenge and the 17th Annual Southridge XC Challenge to form our own mini series. Combined points from all three races will determine series winners at the end of the season."

on the Mt. Sac Race and the Bonelli race descriptions.

Can anyone point me to the right direction or is that all the information we have about the Socal Triple Crown Series?

I couldn't find anything else. The SCVelo web site is sorely lacking. I did a google search and found the 3 dates that I posted.

Because of traveling for work, I've been off the bike for a number of weeks, so I'm not in racing shape.

As I've mentioned before, although I like competition, racing DH doesn't do it for me that much. I think I tend to prefer a little more elbow-to-elbow contact instead of racing the clock. At the very least, I'm planning on riding out there on Saturday.

Does anyone know the direction of the course?

On another note, I just received my invite for the SRC awards. It said to bring my SRC membership card. I never received an SRC card when I joined. Was I supposed to? Do all other SRC members have membership cards?

That confused me last year as well, since I never got a membership card either. I think the "membership card" is just your number plate.

No, don't know anything about the course. I hope to walk it on Friday night after work.

As far as the membership card, they are supposed to give it to you when you join, but we never got our's this year. Don't worry about not having it. Just give them your plate #.

This is the most technical of all the 3 race courses I've ridden (the other 2 being Bonelli and Mt SAC). If you are good with rocks and descents, go for it. It promises to be fun. But at least pre-ride it. Turn by turn directions are here.

My question is: If you haven't raced before, why aren't you signing up as beginner?

I'm racing beginner and almost regretting it. I'll only get one 7 mile lap. But I raced beginner @ the other two Triple Crown races and I don't want to blow my shot at the overall awards.

+1 You definitely should pre-ride the course today, if possible. Donny was supposed to do some maintenance on it, but I don't know what/if anything got done. It is quite sandy and rutted in spots and there are a few sections that will catch you off guard. And if you have never raced before, I suggest beginner also!!!!

Thanks for the sketching it out for me!

Reason I'm thinking about sport is really the distance (climb doesn't look to knarly). I come from a motocross background (raced 2yrs) so rocks and downhills come somewhat natural, dont get me wrong I've been sent on rodeo rides a few times. Also, paying 40$ for one lap just doesn't sound right, rather suffer and do 2. My condition is okay at moment, this will test me.

Can I night ride the trail? anyone intrested?

^^Also, there is a good portion of singletrack on the back of the first climb and some on the downhill. Be sure you know etiquette about passing, etc.

Those are probably the markings from the Collegiate race a few weeks back. The XC course hand orange arrows. Donny doesn't mark the courses until Friday afternoon normally.

If they use the same track as the last couple Southridge Challenges, it will be on the left side of the road (as you are pushing up).

Yes, you can night ride it, but be careful as it is easy to go OTB in some sections. I recommend not riding it in the dark until you've ridden it once during the day.

If you feel up to it, then do 2 laps!!!!!
