It was a chap on a fully rigid SS with race type tyres. He looked like an experienced rider - he hit some ruts and sand at the bottom of a hill. He was concious but as the article said - back injury. His S-Works helmet was split. Hopefully he'll make a full recovery.
What a shame, sucks to get injured. Hope they heal up fast. And oc register....I have 7 day delivery and can't log in to look at the paper. Although I can log in to pay for my subscription, won't let me see sh*t online. oh well....
I was the one who called 911 for this gentleman. This happened at the intersection of Camarillo and Serrano. He was heading towards Bommer Canyon from LCWP (Camarillo intersection on the right), hit a shallow rut and some sand then went OTB bad. He had the wind knocked out of him pretty bad and hit his head so hard it split his helmet (as designed). He was alert and in good spirits, but definitely needed to be stabilized and checked out by a doc. He was a nice guy and I wish him a quick recovery! As for my ride, it ended with two flats and hike down Willow. Go figure...
Wow, sounds like it wasn't your day. But, it's good someone like you was out there to help the guy out--kudos to you. Hopefully the flat gods have been appeased... I went tubeless after a couple rides like that and have only gotten 2 flats in the past year, both of which were my fault--too low pressure / not enough sealant.
