Unless something has changed you can use headphones at these events. Another reason why Jason's events rock! :bang:

I could, but I am down in Moreno Valley, close to Temecula. Would be a drive to go pick it up.

    Ipods

Yes you can use earphones and music. What I do ask is that you use the music smart and safe. Have common sense and courtesy. Not that most folks dont. But sometimes when you got Hannah Montana blasting and your oblivious to the world other racers may want to pass. So a quick fix, turn it down a notch! Pay attention to the race.

I sure hope STR can make it out to set up a tent and represent! Maybe in the future I will work with STR and have the rides on the same weekends as a race and bring more folks together at the same times. Happy faces all around!;)

Dang registration the day of the event closes at 7:30 AM. I'm going to have to leave Pasadena pretty darn early to get down there, like 5:00 AM to be safe. Good times! :bang:

Any one else having problems registering? I am trying to register on Active.com but only the Pro and Expert classes seem to be open.

I'm out for the fat 50.
Becasue yesterday after breaking my 4th Gary Fisher frame in the last 18 months, I'm going for a long road ride with one of the only working bikes in the garage and then maybe a little shopping trip at the bike shop afterwards.

Dang that sucks Mr. Hobbs. I have a medium Niner MCR frame I just disassembled. I'm in Pasadena but if you want to try and build it up today send me a PM. Just add @yahoo.com to my STR name. The frame will be for sale soon.

I finished building up my Titus Racer-X 29 last night. Will take it for a spin around the neighborhood before tomorrow's race. Looking forward to riding on Saturday.

Thanks...All I see is Med. frames for sale.
I'm 6'2" and 210lbs, (reason #1 I break stuff), so I might look a little out of place on that frame.
    Thanks for the offer.

Another sick "Ranoclan" event! It was really an Epic. Kicked my butt big time. Thanks Jason and family for a gooood time! Next time, maybe a little less sand! I think you imported a truck load or maybe 40 truck loads!!!!! Still loved it - 3 OTB's and a shaved rear spoke causing extreme braking every rotation with 16 miles to go just added to the fun:bang:.

Kudos to the organization and the course. Wish there were more bikinis to go with the sand though. No mechanicals, no puking, stayed within my limits, but missed my 5-hr finishing goal by about 20 minutes or so...just means that I got to spend more time riding.

Most physically demanding thing I've done...and that includes riding a double-century road ride in less than 12 hours in the middle of summer.

Really liked that I had to walk some of the descents...not because they were impossible to ride, but because you needed to be good on a Mountain Bike (not great) as well as fit.

Had to miss out on the post-race festivities due to drive back to the OC and evening commitments, but I'll be back!

Thanks again Jason for putting on such a sweet event! 2 laps was insanely difficult but managed to survive. I heard that Tinker's 1st lap was a 1:40:-k Looks like I'll have to shave at least 20min off my 1st lap next year. Managed to still walk away with 3rd in cat2

Were you the one in the van backed up to the tape I was talking to after your race? 3 otb's and a broken spoke? I was parked next to you with the white cannondale basicly talking about your 3 otb's:)

Good times out there yesterday. I tried out my new Titus and loved it. Glad I went back to a 2x9; 30x34 would not have been fun yesterday. I finished in a not so fast time of 6:03 in Mens Sport class. Took me around 20 minutes to fix a flat on the first lap. Second time at a SoCal Endurance event I flatted walking uphill WTF? Then about another 20 minutes in the pit between laps. I was cramping pretty badly several times on the second lap.

I loved some of the more technical descents. The first longish descent with the switchbacks was a blast. I missed the ridge descents and swoopy canyon run from the January 12 hour. Those descents were killer!

Thanks Jason for a great event. Looking forward to the 12 hour in Nov!!!

this was the most challenging thing I ever did in my whole life. Those hills were killer. This was the first time I ever rode 50 miles on the mountain bike and it was a lot harder then I thought. Besides making a wrong turn in the beginning and getting a flat I had a blast. Glad I did it and thanks for hosting the event. I think I finished in about 5:43. Is there a place online where I can see the results?

awesome event. total killer course, but pretty epic and really fun after "that one" climb... which was a bit of a hike. loved the sections after aid station #2 and all the new single track along the lake in the trees.
great marathon race. i ended up not taking in enough water around the 1/2 way and had to dial it back, get in some fluids and then got back on the attack. finished 5th on cat 2/sport.

looking forward to this one as an annual event!

thanks jason his crew at socal endurance for putting on a great one.

oh yeah, camping at vail lake right on the course is as good as it can get.
