I will be pre-riding the course, Sat morning Sept 26 at 7:30 am as posted on geoladders. I hope to see someone there who knows the course or at least has ridden it once. I have my gps for backup just in case.
Jason - will the different classes (say sport) have ages groups of 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, etc? Will there be a limit as how many in each?

I rode it today. great course! The signs are good however I had to rely on my gps 3 times cause I passed the signs or nothing was there. Jason was working on the last few miles of the course and wasn't sure if he was going back around. If no gps then study the course say on geoladders closely or find someone who has gps to ride with. Have fun! Thanks again jason for a sweet course.

    Hey Guys

Just got back in from Vail. I finished with anything that wasnt clearly marked. Everything should be easily found. Start at the Go Kart Track and you should be good. Please carry plenty of water with you. You'll need it for sure!
Have a great ride and I'll see you out there!

I did a lap this morning starting at 5:15am (yikes). I had to be in Big Bear by noon, so I had no choice.
    On to the lap:
What you'll need to survive: hiking boots and brake pads.
I was amazed at how cool the other side of the lake and around the marina is.
Those trail by the other entrace made me think I was at Lake Havasu seaching for a good cove to hang out in.

The climb after the Damn was never ending, maybe because I rode it all in the dark. It should be interesting to see everyone walking that hill, hehehehe

Tough ride. Headed out around 8, by 9 it was WARM! Met Jason at the end of the day ( 2 guys on the tail gate of the ford). Super nice guy. The amount of work it takes to mark and prep that trail makes the ride seem like the easy part. Thanks for all your hard work and I hope to pull 2 laps, 1 was tuff. Bring your sand gears. See you next weekend.

many ups and downs arous the lake very remote feeling gonna be epic!

The last climb up to the water tower not hard but at mile 45 is def gonna hurt hope to see a ton o people cheering ther as that is where we are gonna need the encouragement

    Hey STR'rs

Just got home from another good day at Vail. Saw a bunch of folks out hitting the course today. I am getting excited for this race to get under way. The trails are really coming round and the event activities are all set. Got a email from "Tinker" today. He be racing for sure. Good to see him on course!
My wife yelled at me today, I spend more time weeding and trimming at Vail than I do at home. My front yard is like a jungle! Oh well no one wants to race in my front yard. The new trail on the East side of the lake is now nicknamed "Jedi" I spent all day on that trail and it is so sweet! I am still looking for a name for the climb out of the canyon onto the other side of the lake. I have heard a few but I can't mention them here! HEHE
Maven - I can't get sustained for this event but I can ask for later events.
I will be out all week getting things dialed in, so if your out there say hi!

3 of us rode 1 lap today. its a course that lives up to the name (epic and marathon). lots of fun sections, linked up with some good climbs. in today's heat, 1 lap was enough. should be a good battle out there on the course.
a few of us are heading out friday night. should be a great weekend.

Not to derail the thread but is this epic sounding trail going to be open all the time during the week and such for those of us who might not be able to race (or need to have some sort of goal to shoot for becuase we're over weight and out of shape right now!)

    Vail Lake maps

All of the trails at Vail will be open to ride any time. I am in the process of getting a good trail map done for Vail. At this time there is a crude map that highlights most of the trail at Vail. The ride around the lake will stay marked for about a month after the race this weekend!
