Yeah baby!! Ryan wants a piece of you this season Tom.. he's been saying "when are we riding with Tom again" so even though you give him grief, he must be a glutton for punishment

is there a time frame when all the bells and whistles are gonna be done? I imagine it'll take more than a month and a half to build a bike park.

not even sure its gonna happen this season but they say they are trying to get the permits through so it does

Bke restrictions?

I haven't been to Snow Summit for several years. Do they still have restrictions as to what type of bike you can ride, number of chainrings, single crown vs dual crown fork, etc?

They must already be planning for the increase and expansion.. I am pretty sure the season pass at SS previously was for the full year, including Summer and Winter use.. the description now for the season passes for Winter of next year, it says "does not include mountain biking". I was thinking of grabbing a couple of passes for next ski season during the sale this spring and figured if it included biking this summer, then it's a no-brainer, but it does not include biking.. looks like it will be its own pass

^ yes there will be a specific MTB pass this summer. no details as of yet though. ill be shuttling it soon, the gates on the forest roads open for trucks on may1. after that we shuttle for a month before the lifts open again. id be surprised if its mem weekend. they made the same announcement last season but then opened the 19th weekend for the tour of california race. but maybe with the extra building they might take extra time this season.

Not an expert on Snow Summit but rode there a number of times this past year (2012)... as far as I can see there were absolutely no restrictions on the type of bikes. Saw plenty of guys with downhill and freeride machines and full armor on...pretty much cutting trails whenever they wanted as well...

If SS has a shred of sense they would ditch those weight restrictions once the bike park is built (even before!) if they want to make serious $ in the summers. Ill bet they will.
Many potential cutomers dont have the dough to get their dh bike to sub-38 lbs.. I sure dont.
Im sure theyre hurting from 2 crappy warm winters in a row. although my bike has always been a tad heavier than their limit and theyve never said no to my $25!
ill definitely be getting a season pass if they at least have some of the bike park stuff built and ditch the restrictions.

As of last year, these were Snow Summit's restrictions on bikes:
1. Bikes must be less than 38 pounds.
2. Designated tire size must be less than 2.5.
3. Front shock must have less than 7.5 inches of travel.
4. Bikes must have at least two chain rings unless they are single speed.

I don't know if these restrictions are being followed or have been changed.

Just to be clear, I don't know ANYONE cutting trails whenever they wanted! We just rode and maintained trails you don't know about.

The Bike Park project isn't going to happen overnight as it takes time to build legit trails that can withstand tons of riders, weather and anything else but this is exciting to see it moving in the right direction!
