Filmed at SJT. This hasn't officially gone out yet. Thought I'd share with the STR local yokels. Enjoy.

Seriously, though, it's not covered in the Aliso clinic because there aren't really any tight switchbacks like they have at San Juan.

There is a set of nice switchbacks on Dripping Cave Trail.

looks well done and proffessional. Dean's right too, there are some good switchbacks at aliso. Aliso has everything.

Mmm... I'll have to go searching out those Dripping Cave switchbacks. I've been to the cave but not the switchbacks. I tend to stick to a couple of trails and not explore much. I need to explore more.

Where else are there switchbacks at Aliso? If we could find a few that are more, shall we say, on the beaten path we may be able to work them into Joe's clinics.

They are really on a well ridden trail. It'd be great for the clinic I think. You've been to the cave, so you know pretty much where it is. There is a trail that forks to the right as if you are heading to the cave. Take that and up a steep climb. You will hit the switchbacks on the descent. Coming the other way, I think this is to the left at the bottom of mathis. I may be wrong here though.

Yes you do, it connects with Coyote so you can bypass much of Wood Canyon Fireroad to get to Cholla.

Ah, that's probably part of the problem. I never park over on the Church side of the park. I'm almost always at Canyon Vistas. But I'm all curious now.

There are some switchbacks on Meadows as well. Not real tight but a couple are pretty steep.

Nice vid by the BikeSkills. Some good camera angles. Before I moved awayyy I was riding San Juan Trail almost twice a week. Your switchbacks skills improve so fast the more you ride em. Meadows is switchbacks arnt as tight but they are steeper.

I've ridden Meadows and those are fun but I don't remember it being as tight as SJT. Thanks for all the directions ya'll.

Nice job on the production and explaining the technique. But my difficulty with switchbacks is more on the downhill direction, especially when it gets steeper, tighter, steppier, rockier or all of the above. Some of the switchbacks on SJT give me trouble (a few are steep and rocky) as do some of the steppy ones on Sunset near Mt Lowe (steppy, tight), Silver Moccassin near Chilao (rocky) and similar ones to those. Any tips? Is a video coming out on downhill switchbacks?

Damn, you named some nasty swicthbacks that make Lower San Juan look easy. Not many people I know can clean those on Silver Moccassin...I am not one of them. I agree with you, I am much more comfortable going up switchbacks than down. Fear of OTB's.
