Ride Report Sladnas/Daley Ranch Newbie Ride

You guys rock...sorry I missed it!!! (Still learning to file through all the rides to figure out where to be).....seriously tho, it makes me smile and sigh to see such a great group of people doing what they love and doing good things for others.... :):):)

Thanks to everyone for another epic STR event. Mark, it was great to see you again and to meet your wife. You guys are really troopers!! Enjoy the new ride. ;)

I didn't feel old at all until I asked the guy (nice guy btw, I'm bad at names) with the ? name tag where the Mysterians were. It was a bit of music trivia so old that no one knew it (same with this post title probably).
That was me (george)?

Mark,
STR has quite a family and we are glad you are part of it. I so wish I could have been there this weekend. It was a hard one to miss and after seeing the photos and reading the stories, I'm even more bummed about it. But I had family things going and I could not/will not miss out on those.

I hope this, in at least a little way, helps things get back to normal. Everyday we see the burn, we think of you and how toppled your life must be. You are stronger than all of us here (well except maybe Dino) and it shows.

Congrats!

Funny you said that.... I got ahead of the C group, but behind the B group at one point, and I was just cruising solo. So, I stopped to "water the plants" so to speak, walked about 20ft off the trail, went behind a bush, and bam: coyote, about ten feet away , just staring at me.

We just stood there for around 10 seconds looking at each other, and apparently he didn't find me very interesting, so he casaully turned around and walked away. Pretty cool!

He proberly saw you were not packing much and just said hell with it and bailed ;). Just playin wit ya hoss.

Sorry I could not make it out. To be honest I was just lazy. Looks like everyone had a great time. :bang:

Sydeti - Thanks for that foto of Julia and Dino. I printed it and hung it in my office.

I just have to say Kudos to Dino, Julia, Spec-Ed and my sweeper and everyone else that caught up with group again. That was quite a challenge everyone was pretty quick.

Yesterday at the picinic I sat at the shy table - we are shy but fun. It was nice chatting with Coleko, ColdBrews and Mike. Thanks for sitting with me guys it was fun.

Jojo and Julia you two always waiting up on me...what is wrong with you two?

Dino always wondering if I am okay. I am okay - I can ride just want Julia to ride with you all.

Mark - I hope you come out to the OC to ride with us. It was so nice meeting you.

Let's ride at the Ridge!

Sorry I didn't get a chance to actually meet you...there were so many folks out there! We'll definitely have to come up to ride in your neck of the woods soon :)

Rut, your name came up a few times, shows that you were sorely missed. You have your priorities in right order. Family first! :bang:

My general rule is that the ride must be at least as long as the amount of time it took to get there (and sometimes back) :)

dude.. for someone in SD that would be like a 4+hr trip to get up there. much shorter getting back, but it still would be a ridiculous drive. i have ridden the loop, it isn't worth that drive. not even to ride with a full TdF peloton IMO.

just for the record, allison and i do a ridiculous amount of driving to get to rides so we can share the ride with great people. i do however mandate that the ride itself be worth it! :)

Nice to finally meet you Mark. My wife and kid had a good time at the BBQ. Turnout was awesome, but the group strung out enough not to cause much traffic.
Just a few complaints from the "little boss" on the rough sections but considering he sat in that trailer for over 3 hours. He did great being awake the whole time except for the last mile.
Thanks to Dino for help pushing my trailer up "Exhibition" hill and my wife's bike up Cougar Ridge. MTBBill I didn't get to meet you but, awesome pictures! I though they were right out of Bike Mag.
Good times.

I apologize to anyone who ate any of the Bratwurst I brought. Must have been a bad batch as I was feeling green all night. Fortunately I didn't have to use the trash can next to the bed.:(
