Some of you might remember this beauty from the STR / Adrenaline BBQ raffle. Today was her maiden ride. Bike Report will follow.

Already swapped out the wheels, saddle, tires, handlebars, grips and cassette......thinking of putting the Truvativ Stylo cranks on instead of the LX's

    Soma 29er

Not the greatest pics sorry. Built this up about a month ago, second ride was the CC. Totally awesome love the way the tires hook up. Still getting my climbing adjusted. I used 32 hole hubs from my 26ers I will be building up 36 hubs as soon as I have the funds as I can definatly feel some flex going on. Going to switch to 1 x 9 sooner than later

I was reading somewhere that 29ers do better with flat bars instead of risers. Something to do with the headtube being higher. This made sense to me, as the cockpit on my 29er has always felt a bit off. I thought flat bars may help.

So I was at work today seeing what we had in the way of flat bars when I ran across these:

I didn't know Niner made bars.:bang: These things are also 700mm wide!! I was running 675mm bars previously. I didn't notice too much of a difference in that regard. It did feel very stable though.

Anyway, I went for a pretty good ride at LPQ after work and the new bars were sweet. They definitely helped make my body position feel more natural.

    Here's a before and after:

    Before--Mid-rise bars, 100mm, 5 degree rise stem:

    After--Flat bars, 100mm, 0 degree rise stem:

Since the clamp on the new bars is 31.8, I had to get a new Thomson stem. Went the 0 degree.

Ya. I really liked the position it put me in. Much better than before.

    I was previously using mid-risers and a 5 degree.
