    Thx Abui.
Are there any trail sections that you always ride with the sus. fork but wouldn't do with the rigid ?

My Tallboy. I made a few key changes that made her even more fun.

Still Pinching Myself - Got a Felt Nine 1 from MVP Cycle Center!

Just took my new Felt Nine 1 out for a spin on Blackstar today at lunchtime. Got it from MVP Cycle Center over in Lake Forest (http://www.mvpcycle.com/) - Jake and Craig really hooked me up with the Frame Kit Nine C and pretty much set me up with the best bike I've ever ridden (still pinching myself). My fastest time up Blackstar (gate to gate) was 51 min before today. Well with this bad boy I blasted up with a time of 48 min. I'm still picking my jaw off the ground for how light and durable it is and how well it performs on the up and downhill sections.

    This my Spearfish finished recently...
    spearfish 2.jpg spearfish 1.jpg

    Quick builds specs...
    Fork Reba RLT 100mm
    Shock Rock Shox Monarch RT3
Wheels WTB Frequency i23 on Sram x9 hubs
    Shifters Shimano SLX
    Cranks Shimano SLX
    Brakes Shimano SLX
    Rear Der Shimano XT
    Front Der Shimano SLX
Seatpost Giant Contact Switch Dropper (Awesome so far!)
Tires FR WTB Bronson 2.2, RR WTB Nano 2.1
Bottom Bracket Race Face PF30 adapters for 24mm Spindle (way better than those plastic insert types, very solid, no creaking or creeping)

Absolutely love the bike so far. My last full suspension 29er was a Stumpjumper FSR, which was nice but rode kinda like a semi...big, heavy and long. This bike is much more XC oriented which suits me just fine. Pedals great and handles pretty well coming down, but it will remind you occasionally that there is only 80mm of travel in the rear.

The Giant Contact Switch Seatpost is pretty awesome so far. I've been on it for about 2 months now and so far it is solid. The head has some play but not anymore than my Command Post and the operation is smooth. It only comes in a 30.9 so I used a .7mm shim to get to fit the 31.6 seatpost tube.

Originally I was using the plastic PF30 adapters from Wheels Mfg and those things were terrible. No matter how much I adjusted and fiddled and reinstalled, there was always a small amount of play and it would creak and knock while riding. So I did some looking around at Parlee, and Praxis but then stumbled upon the Race Face PF30 adapters for $50. They press directly into the frame and then you can install the cranks just as you would on a conventional BB. No more knocking and coming loose. Time will tell if the bearings stay good but I love the fact that they are not plastic shim Mickey Mouse adapters.

So, being on an extremely low budget, I bought what I could get. This is at the lookout over the Chutes. I also did the Tour de Palm Springs Century ride on it February 9 (but now have a road bike for such insanity). I've been on a 35-year hiatus from cycling, but now remember why I rode the crap out of my Sears 10-speed as a teenager (cell phone pic - not the best.)

And the brakes even work - and announce my presence to anyone within 1,000 yards!! Y'know the best part of the whole deal? My 14 year old daughter has gotten the bug, and so every Sunday morning we're out on a trail and I have no excuse not to make sure she can't outdo me. Daddy-daughter time like no other. The greatest side-effect is that at 51 I'm in better shape than I've ever been.

Decided that I should turn my Karate Monkey into a SS, so I picked up this frame for $300 shipped and swapped over parts. But also I had really been itching to utilize the Fox fork, it was sitting in my closet since last July/August. But I have added a front derailer and 24t granny ring, I need the lower gearing to pull one my kids with a trailer bike.
