I do that for the same reason. I really don't want to deal with ticks anymore.

I've shaved mine since high school--way before I started riding so my reason is not cycling related.

I have very little hair on my arms. Very little on my chest and back and what I do have is blonde and thin. However my unshaven legs look like the legs of a monkey. Thick, coarse black hairs. It was very uncomfortable growing up in River-tucky with the summer heat and such. So I started shaving them for comfort.

With the way the hair on my arms is, I rarely have people ask me if I shave my legs. It all boils down to personal preference. My favorite bit is how people act like you're less of a man if you shave. The last time I had a guy hassle me over it, I told him "I don't shave my legs, your wife does it for me.":beer:

    yes, i am
but, if i can shave my legs and be made fun of, but whoop A$$ on the trails, why would people care? haha

im not a roadie... yet, cuz i have no money for a road bike
but im guessing same would pretty much go for the dirt...

i dont understand why people think its gay, or it makes you less of a man
    i mean geez
and why would they be checking your legs out anyways?

it's human nature to question things that are not the norm so yah when they see that it makes them wonder "what's up with this guy" if you are comfortable with yourself who cares what others think

Doug: you are in my eyes the manly man so i totally see your side of it but i also know you are a tolerant man...hell any man with 3 boys has to be tolerant :)

Haha. Ya, that's the other line I drop when a guy will start the "your gay because you shave your legs" bit. I always ask them why they are checking out another dude's legs.

I tried it but it's a pain in the ass to keep up, then again I am a hairy beast. Marginally better for abrasions but seriously if you have the time why not?

Let me know when you decide to cross that line Brandon, I'll have my daughter give you some pointers, she shaves her legs too. BTW, you still won't beat me at the races!!! Ok, eventually you will!:bang:
