I am not a fan of Temple Hills, Nyes or Park to many cars. It seems like the more expensive the car they faster and closer they pass ya. I know you Strava freaks need to stay on route but it is so much more enjoyable to zig zag your way up top on the narrow less traveled side streets.

They're rolling from the Laguna Playhouse at 8:15. I plan on riding from home at about the same time and meeting or chasing them from the LDS church around 9.

Yep, lots of ways to put this together. Discovered a couple of 25-30% sections off Bluebird that I mistakenly wandered onto.

I'm building one that's: less than 30 miles, more than 10K gain, all climbs between Park and Nyes and, no repeats on any of the climbs.

I think it's doable. And/or if I started over on the North side and worked those, came down Rosa Bonheur and then started up Glenneyre, it would be easy to do. Having said this I'm sure somebody has done it already and is claiming for it.

Obie have you taken a look at Del Mar climb bottom to top down right scary. Also the Upland Road climb off Coast Highway short but brutal. That climb by the Police Station up 3rd street is the only climb in Laguna I have found that I had to push my bike up. Granted it was at the end of a long ride night ride with safety meetings but Cal Epic (Craig) motored up it on his single speed...maybe I need to revisit I have been bypassing it for over a year now. All I can say is Laguna is a bunch of fun it so many different ways. I am working on pavement climbs dirt drops in South Laguna..the drops are very raw. You can see them as you climb the different sisters. Means climbing on long travel bikes.

Del Mar's a mini-beast. On the list now.

The 3rd St. section is some work but, with all the traffic there it's gotta be done straight up and I'm not sure I can do that yet. Might have need to bail out and zig-zag that one and, with cars that's sketchy - big blind spot off the top: you can't see what's coming and they sure as hell wont see you. Looks like 30%??

I hear ya on those paved climbs/dirt drops. I was trying to figure out where to go off the top of Morningside, to get to the meadow, and came up on that "Private Road" section. Stopped, was looking it over and then a couple guys on F/S rigs blew by me and hit that s/t that runs down off the top and connects somewhere off towards the top of the meadow. Did see them bog on the climb section and have to HAB it a bit - couldn't tell if they just ran up to a vertical wall or just some big chunk.

You don't go down from top of Morningside you go dirt up. Look at Google Earth Top of the World. Look right next the fenceline trail that takes you from Top of the World connector over to Meadows your answer will be there. Also look the the powerlines near the top of meadows there a a couple of options out there to drop all nasty big bike stuff.
