As I said before, we need a new, up-to-date, actively moderated and maintained forum.

You think it's frustrating for you guys? Try moderating it and for a while, alone. Dino and mtnbikerfred have taken on some of the duties. Before Dino came on, CalEpic and I did all the moderating.

These issues you talk about are a site problem and is "Admin" not moderators issues as we Mods(Fred & I) don't have "Admin" privileges. George(owner of the site) aka LBmtb and Dino are STR's Admins. Fred and I are the Super Moderators, Ladd Jasper is the General Forum Mod. Here's where you can find s info: View Site Leaders

Many of the screen names you see there don't even come on here let alone moderate their forum and I've requested many times to get new ones with no luck.

BTW: Moved to Website Discussion cause that's where this belongs.

Even if it's not perfect, it's a fantastic value. I've had many great rides and met many fine people through this site. Bought, sold and donated several items without hassle–for no cost. Funny how it's almost always the free or uber cheap stuff that people complain isn't good enough. Thanks to all who volunteer time so we have a decent place to congregate.

2nd that.Thank you for the all the unappreciated backroom work thats been done.Nothing is perfect. I enjoy imperfection but also appreciate convinence. This site is both and is all sorts of awesome.Thank you for providing us with a platform for conversing all matters related or not to MTBing. Personally I think this is one of the (bestest) most organized and active forums around.Cheers

    1. George and I have been WORKING HARD for the past 24 hours trying to fix bugs (some not known to STR members)...

    2. Gene and I have devoted HUNDREDS of hours of our lives...
(have asked for nothing in return)

    3. Gene and I are / have been frustrated for quite some time.
(I will leave it at that... These words are directed at one person)

    4. Keeping this site running smoothly is a DAILY battle...
(that's all I am going to say)

    5. I 100% guarantee a new crew of moderators will be in place by the end of the week!
-They WILL actively moderate the forum!
-They WILL be instructed to delete BULLSHIT posts on the spot (no need for consultation)
-The ban hammer WILL be making its triumphant return to this forum (trolls and trouble makers consider yourselves warned).

Hey, since we're all letting it hang out, here is my BS. I'm an immigrant. I came to California 10 years ago and I have no long time friends within 300 miles. Married with kids, I don't get much socializing to make new friends. I rely on forums to find people to ride with, besides other hobbies and sports. Through this forum, I've ridden with a bunch of great people, close to 3 dozen in my mind, made friends and have a little community I can look to for support in this sport. Shoot, I parked at Snow Summit yesterday and saw Gabe, who I met through STR, who in turn introduced me to 6 other guys. This may or may not be important to most of you, but having a sense of community and not be a lone wolf in this sport is for me. That's all I want from STR, and I get it. Much appreciated.

Hey, I don't think anyone here is expressing a lack of appreciation, but merely sharing that things aren't working. This thread is the only way I knew other people were having issues too and that things are being worked on, as it should.

I look at this thing every day, get huge benefits and try to contribute as much as I can. It's not only appreciated, but essential for me having this localized MTB conversation. I constantly hear in conversation about things posted on STR and I connect with so many people, get detailed local knowledge on a level that constantly amazes me. I see someone get hurt or a new bridge built, I can usually count on seeing it here.

Admin and owners, don't be discouraged or defensive. I don't know the sausage making, but this site works (well, when you get the recent bugs worked out) and is important to the local community... at least in my opinion.

MANY THANKS to everyone that makes this site possible!! I KNOW it can be frustrating and hard work at times (and sometimes thank-less, too). (I know because I was the Webmaster for a number of sites, years ago.)
