Screenames: what do they mean?

My 2nd mountain bike was a Nishiki Pinnacle. Full XT (before there was any XTR). Had it as my only bike from about 1989-2003.

The 10 I added since Pinnacle is sometimes taken and I was a decathlete in college (10 events)

I used to teach undergraduate computer science classes as a part time instructor.

One class covered operating systems. Because commercial and open source operating systems such as Windows and Linux are so complex and unfit for students to study, I used an instructional operating system called NACHOS which stands for Not Another Completely Heuristic Operating System.

Students hated it, but it was better than wading through millions of lines of code in Linux to see how it works. So that is where the nickname came from: "Professor Nachos." I was never a "professor." I was just a part time lecturer, but still had all the power to torment the students and I took advantage of every opportunity to do so :).

'cause I listen to trance music when I ride... high-energy stuff to get me up those tough climbs...not because I ride around in a daze (although I might have been when I broke my collarbone a couple months ago)

Some names don't need an explanation... OK, I fix things... sometimes in weird ways :-k 0302 is my tech number...

As I zoomed by! A spectater was heard saying "Who was that"? Wife, That's Jimbo. Spectater "Jimbowho???????

Post beer jokes were flying that day & it stuck.

Meanings behind the Monikers

Bringing back an old thread here, hope you dont mind!

So I'm sure its crossed the minds of fellow STR members and non-members alike! WTF does that MONIKER / SCREEN NAME mean?!?!?! So, what does it mean? Where and how did it come into use? Whats does your moniker mean to you? :-k

I'll re-break the ice here!

EATSRICE91:
Most people assume I'm Asian or I eat rice, but whats the 91 stand for? In all actuality, the moniker Eatsrice91 dates back to my 1991 Mustang that I had about 13 years ago. I built that car up to an 11sec 1/4 mile car that was 100% street legal and yes, was my daily driver! I earned the Moniker Eatsrice because well, the car had a steady diet of imported cars for breakfast. ;) Although I sold the car back in 2009, the name has stuck... I SO REGRET selling that sweet, sweet ride...... Funny, I still bump into people that remember my car but cannot for the life of them remember my name. LOL

Mine's easy. I bought a new bike last year, after demo'ing a ton of them. I fell in love w/ the firebird right away. Here's a pic from the day I picked her up.

Oh... and I used to drive a "rice rocket" - a 1999 Integra GS-R, which I sold to buy the Honda Pilot you see in the pic.IMG_0200[1].jpg

So what are you gonna do when you decide to sell that bike and buy some thing different?

Bumping this one for eatsrice. Certainly a fun read back through the archives...

Hey thanks a lot!! I just spent like the past hour reading through these!!

Back before I fell in love with biking me and my coworkers used to go Off roading in our jeeps and trucks. This was my full time hobby. (Used to spend lots of time and money at Kragen and now its at LBS). One day we got a suburban stuck in a ditch in Johnson valley and later put a hole in the sidewall. While trying to repair it with a rusty POS jack I had in my truck and beating on the tie rods with a rock, my coworker said we looked like a buncha dingbats trying to f*ck a football. It made me LMAO for some stupid reason. That night, while sitting around the campfire with booze in our laps and in our tummies, we decided to start an off road club named the OCdingbats (oc is orange county). I was to draw up a logo, make stickers for our vehicles, and start a Youtube page. The club never happened. I ran into the wonderful world of biking and sold my truck. Now I have two bikes. But I do have a Youtube page with 50% of our dingbat off road vids and 50% biking .

My name came about because you could always catch me drifting around corners, both cars and bikes....used to be "brando drifto commando"....dropped the drifto and brando commando stuck. Also my DJ name =D
