so i put on a new fork and the mount for my caliper is different. the reba had mounts that were perpendicular to the wheel and used a bracket to hold the caliper.

well now, on the manitou, the mount is parralell and if i bolt the caliper straight to the fork, my 203mm rotor is too big?

so is there an adapter that i can use? or does the fork limit how big of rotor i use?, cuz that would suck:?:

You need a post mount to post mount 203 front adapter, preferably by the same manufacture of your brakes.

Sounds like you switched from a "Post Mount" (caliper bolt threads are parallel to the rim - the Reba uses Post mounts) to an "IS mount" (caliper bolt threads are parallel to the axle).

As Rob said, you just need a 203mm adapter for your brakes made by the brake manufacturer, the adapter by one manufacturer might not fit brakes from another (it might, but it's not guaranteed).

What brakes are you using?

As Rob said, you just need a 203mm adapter for your brakes (although I'm pretty sure you need IS, not Post) made by the brake manufacturer (different calipers have different bolt configurations, Avid Juicies are IS style, where Hope Tech M4s are Post style), the adapter by one manufacturer probably won't fit brakes from another (it might, but it's not guaranteed).

What brakes are you using? If they're avids, I'm pretty sure I have a 203mm IS front brake adapter kicking around somewhere you can have anyway (I went through the same thing, but in reverse, the 07 TALAS is IS mount, the 09 TALAS is Post mount).

I figured he's using post mount brakes because he said when he bolts the caliper to the fork the rotor is too big.

The Reba (at least this years) is a post mount fork, so I figured he's switching the other way.

Yeah, looks like older Rebas are IS mounts, forget everything I said :)

My Juicy calipers have IS mounts, but my Hope calipers have post mounts (that is, if you were to mount them without any adapters).

Your Juicy calipers are PM mount as well. The piece that the bolts screw into under the CPS washers is an adapter.

here is a pic of it. the caliper needs to scoot out about an inch. straight from the fork.

which one is it? do local bike shops carry these brackets?

Most decent bike shops should carry them yes, especially considering you're running Avid brakes (that said, it seems to be backordered at most of the online retailers, so you might find availability is an issue right now).

Out of the two above I believe that the 203mm one is the one on the right with the offset bolt holes, but you don't need to identify it by sight, you just need to know the rotor diameter and the fact that it's a regular 74mm post mount.

You're after an Avid 203mm post mount brake adapter.
