trying to recruit some people for a group ride on saturday december 10th down the palm canyon epic....i did this ride friday and it was awesome so if anyone wants to join in let me know

umm...you can park in the rimrock shopping center and then it takes like 30-45 minutes to drive up to the top....i didnt even notice the shuttle time though...i was so excited for the ride...and you have to pile as many people into a truck as you can so you have new friends to talk to....i can only take me and 2 other people in my truck, and that is ppushing it because i have a single cab with just a bench seat, but if it needs to be done it can be, but i might be able to borrow my moms truck and she has a dodge 4 door....the trails have lots of different names, but we just go down the palm canyon trail and then at the end we are going to go down the goat trails, we missed them last time because we didnt take wildhorse (i think) over and then we missed the fireroad, but we will get them next time.....the ride report we followed is at www.mountainbikebill.com and our gps data should be logged onto geoladers.com sometime within this week

This might be worth doing if the Mt Baldy ride doesn't fall thru on Sunday because of weather.

I'm up for a different ride.

(909) 904-4914 i need to know people who are definately going so we can get a shuttle....I'm trying to organize it with another group of guys (the guys I rode it with last weekend) so I don't know a definate time, but I do know it is definately on saturday

yeah...i would like to see a 7 am meeting time at the rimrock shopping center so that we can start on the trail by 8...we started after 9 last time and after the mechanical problems and breaks we didnt finish until 4pm.....so a bigger group means more potential for problems so the earlier the better....I'm going to figure out the start time tonight if I can get a hold of the other guy and try to push them for 6:30am, but will probably compromise for 7am....the drive for me took about an hour and from orange county I hear its about an hour and a half

ok, we are looking at an 8am start time at the rim rock shopping center

4733 East Palm Canyon Drive in palm springs

the only problem is i think they are going to skip the first like 5 miles of single track and just bomb down a double tracl/fire road to get to the trail intersection, but i dont want to skip that single track because it is totally awesome, so im thinking 2 different groups...one meets earlier to do the single track and the other meets later to do the fireroad so we can plan to meet at the intersection and go from there.....let me know guys

Sat 8m is good for me. Sounds like baldy is too damn cold.
I have an excursion and can carry 5 bikes.
I live in alta loma so I am looking for ride alongs to help with gas and good company.
Let me know who is in. And where you are coming from, then I will establish a central meeting place to depart from.

i will be in for the carpool with you, except if i have to drive to shuttle you back i will...i get like 25 mpg in my little s-10 but yeah its gonna be awesome...i can be at armandos if you want that to be the meeting place for the shuttle....its a little out of the way because the meeting place is right down the 10 or we can have a different meeting place....i will found out how we are going to shuttle and we will go from there

Like to Join in on Saturday

What is total ride time? I have to back around by 12:00 noon at the starting point so I can make the trek home. Is there any where you can drop out and make it a shorter ride if needed. I also have a truck that can haul the masses. Let me know some ride times and any drop out points. Thanks.

ride times are very hard to say....there is always a chance of something on your bike breaking (which seems to happen a lot on this trail) and flats are always possible (one guy got 7 flats on this ride, but none were from thorns or anything) getting back by 12.....you can do that, but you will just be riding fireroads practically...all the bail out points are just down a fire road so its a waste to do that....the best way to go is on all the really nice desert single track they have there and it takes all day....ride time when i went was 4 hours 11 minutes about, the whole trip took about 7 hours...we had a broken derailler hanger and i had a flat...the derailler hanger took like 45 minutes to fix because the screw thing got jammed and my flat took a few minutes...so about an hour for the mechanicals and 2 hours worth of breaks/waiting for the group...not too bad, but this ride takes all day.....try to move whatever you have to do on saturday to sunday because this is a really awesome ride that isn't done too often...summer is too hot and certain trails arent supposed to be ridden in certain months for the big horn sheep breeding season, or something like that

I did the ride a couple weeks ago, my 5th time. Plan on at least a 6-7 hour ride, 6 if you bail at the dozer, if you're lucky. If you have to be back by noon you'll be about 3 hours late.

The first stretch of s.t. from the campground was awesome. Hell Hill isn't bad and was fairly hard packed most of the way up to Dunn Road. Hahn Buena Vista is still a hoot.

Start early... have fun.

Ok guys the central car pooling place will be at the mills edwards cinema parking lot at Ont Mills. Off of 4th street turn south on franklin into lot and go to the left and park. I will be there at 6 a.m.
If any one needs to call me my cell is 909-921-7924. Do a simple post of "I'm in!". To get an idea of riders.
This is going to be big fun.
