I started early this morning at Santiago Oaks, parking at Anaheim Elementary this time. Down Yucca then up Bumblebee. OC Parks had some kind of hiking event going on out there, with a big tent at the top of Bumblebee, so it was good I started early. The hikers were all carrying maps, so not sure what it was exactly. I avoided them best I could.
I then went over to Peralta which is such an underrated trail with some nice chunk and skill required. Then after a climb, down Hawk. Screwed up a bit on that one by leaving my climb switch locked, but I managed. I heard reports Hawk was in bad shape, but I have seen it much, much worse. I had no problem.
Hikers started showing up en masse on that side, so I headed up to the flag and did three jump runs, then hit one of the drops at the flag and down Wack GPs. Bombed down Bommer, then the Deer Loop. Another run down Bommer, down Chutes Ridgeline, Fenceline and back up. Finished going down Cactus which I don't much care for. Way too many lines and shortcuts. Up Bumblebee again and out.
It was nice and overcast ... the sun finally came out just as I was finishing, so it was perfect. Still drenched from the humidity, but at least I was not baking.
13.66 miles and 3K elevation ... got a pretty good full body workout in with the chunk, drops and jumps.
