Good times today at Santiago Oaks. This was my first time riding there, so it was fun to check it out with a group that knew the way. As always, it was fun to meet new people and reconnect with folks I already know.

Here are some fun pics from the day and a few carnage shots.

Aaron and Ricky getting ready to ride the lightning (don't ask)

Now, on to the jumps and hucks. I don't know who most of these folks are, but they were fun to watch.

Great ride today guys........even though I was the last one up the B's #-o. It was also nice to get place more faces with screen names. Today I was still a little on the shy side but I'm trying to get over that. I'll try to make more rides with the STR peeps or even on my own. I gotta get into shape and gain more confidence in my riding. One of these days I hope to be doing all that hucking a lot of the riders were doing. I had lots of fun today and I'm looking forward to the next one.

SpookyDave got a wicked pedal bite, but still rode out like a stud. We had an unofficial guessing pool in the parking lot afterwards on the number of stitches he'll get. My guess was 22, Aaron said 16, I think I heard someone say 25.

Hope you feel better soon Dave. Let us know how it goes at the ER.

The worst of it is under the bandage

Though he cleaned most of it off, his pedal still had hair and flesh on it at the end of the ride. That's nasty.

The videos are uploading to YouTube right now. More photos here.

holy crap dave, that is gnarly!!!! looks like mtbikefred was about to loop out on the drop. cool photos and rr sam, thanks.

Steven hucks

Wow, that looks scarier from your point of view than mine. Looks like I forgot to pull up off the lip.
Lowering the seat might have help too.
I much prefer the pic of my first attempt:

I didn't get my big chainring in time, so I ran 1x8 on the spider. The 30T - 11/32 is just low enough to get me up the 3 bichas and still cruise on the flats. Hmmm, bash guard or big ring? It was only an 8 mile ride, but what a fun 8 miles. I gotta run with the big bikes more often.:bang:

dang, that was alot of peeps for that ride, glad i showed up and glad someone else took charge of the RR. great ride, cant wait to ride chutes again. nice meeting those who i met. cant wait to go back

Nice pics, I’ll have to e mail those to my mom. Haha

I get to the ER and filled out the paper work as “minor flesh wound”. They all caught the Monty Python connection right away. At the same time a pretty nice size pool of blood was collecting on the floor.

I’ll tell you it looked ugly. I mean it looks pretty bad in those photos but the real meat is under those bandages.

My foot slipped off the pedal and I ran over my leg I guess. I looked down and there was a big O chunk of meat on the pedal. The looked at my leg and it was wide open just raining blood.
Stitches count was 9 down inside, 17 single stitches and one running stitch that looks to be pretty long.

I know the guy that patched me up told me his name but in the madness I’ve forget. But I own him big time!!

Hey, it was just my turn. Still have a lot of fun.

Hey Brew, do you have a pic of me rolling that rock face? I just want to see how much blood was running out of my shoe.

Oaks...late start

Couldnt quite get there at 9am. I didnt start until around 9:30. I was hoping to catch the group on one of the Bs.

I finally caught up w/the group at the end of the DH run the runs into the wash, where you have to hike-a-bike to get to the top. From the pics, looks like I missed out on alot of fun! I actually brought my helmet-cam.

Next time i'll try to get there on time. I wanted to meet the guys from STR. I was able to meet Nomad & Do Work.

Cool pics!

Good stuff guys and gal!!
I had to cut out right after the start. I looked down at my fork just before we droped into the Oakes and noticed my fork crown had a crack in it. I think if I would have missed it(the crack) you guys would have had some good carnage pictures of me broken on the side of the trail in pain:?:..
Willie, way to go on the hillz:bang:! I was planning on giving you a verbal push today but it looks like you did well on your own.
Untill next time.....

HUGH
