    San Juan Saturday conditions (predictions)?

Does anyone have any info on how wet the San Juan trail got during the rains today? I'm looking for predictions on trail conditions tomorrow morning, if anyone happens to know. Much appreciated.

Sooooo muchhhh herrrooooo dirrtttttt. Hit it, you wont regret it. So tacky that every corner begs to be riden harder! Rode it during the rain today and it was primo! Carefull though one of the exposed section got washed out and isnt really rideable unless you have mad skills coming down! Enjoy

Not sure if that's supposed to be sarcasm or what? The dude's just asking a question...

MojoCP, I saw some pictures of San Juan on Facebook this afternoon and it looked epic! Wish I could be out there this weekend. Hero dirt all around.

Mo, who does that rocky mountain altitude in your pic belong to, and how does he/she like it? that gonna be my next bike most likely and im trying to get all the feedback I can on it. Wish i couldve joined ya today, i always enjoy SJ when raining. Mojocp, i dont think anywhere got more than 1/4" of rain. san juan is always good when wet, unless its like flooding rain.

Oaks seemed fine this morning, saturated but tacky. That is, until it started raining again. It took almost nothing to turn everything into slick clay... right as we hit the bottom of Yucca. The death hike out of the slippery clay valley, with 45 lbs of mud on my bike over my shoulders, is not something I want to repeat.

Thanks for the San Juan info.

Oaks dirt is very different than SJ dirt, it has a lot more clay in it and if too wet it will be slick and cake up the tires. Learned that the hard way!

It's pretty obvious. About 1/4th to 1/3rd of the way down from Cocktail Rock - it's a right side wall on a slight left turn. Trail is pretty much gone for about 4-5 feet. Stay on your toes for the entire descent - there are some interesting fall-away left turns after some fast straightaways and there are some very deep ruts in places. Look ahead and enjoy!

^^ Yeah it is. It's about 50 feet or so from a switchback or right hand turn. I was carrying some speed and was able to stop for it (exposure can really get me)

You know how the middle portion is usually loose over hard pack? Today was loose over concrete! And gusty. Still enjoyed the ride though. FYi. 12/26/13. Started around 945am.

I don't think that SJT could get much better. The lower switchback portion is tacky supper grippy tire velcro. The middle sun exposed portion has dried out and is firm soil covered with with loose marbles. There are a few deep V grooved sections in the middle shaded ares that you need to use caution on your decent as your front wheel wants to get sucked down into the deep ruts. With cool winter temps and tacky dirt, this trail is in good shape and the time to ride it is now.

    Get out and ride!

Plants over grown, got slapped in the face a few times, and had to constantly dodge branches. Other than that soil was perfect it had rained the day before, SJT in really good shape also. Seems like the ruts/troughs had been widened a bit making for an eisier decent. Thank you to whoever did that work!

Yup.....really overgrown....Viejo Tie is even worse.....and the Poison Oak is getting really really thick.

The ruts getting wider is just a byproduct of the amount of traffic it gets.

San Juan Trail after the snow

Has anyone ridden it that can report whether it is covered in snow. Hoping to ride up to cocktail rock tomorrow, but don't want to get stopped short by snow.
