Ride Report Rwanda Ride

The company was great, my burger and beer were awesome, but the last 5 miles of that ride really sucked hairy donkey balls.

lol . . . I second that!!! It was a beautiful ride w/lots of friends. Sorry I missed you. I got a flat on my rear tire halfway through the ride. Last one I had was right after VQ. Lucky, eh?!

Hey Deb, glad to see I wasn't the only one dealing with flats...hope you brought a pump at least as I forgot mine (dummy).

It was good to see you and Erik out there, let's ride soon (another Bommer outing maybe?)

Rwanda 50 was a great ride. Fun volunteers on the trail and aid stations. Great raffle prizes, and money raised for a good cause. Thanks to all that helped put on the event. It was my longest ride ever at 51 miles - did it in 5:40, so pleased overall. Thanks to Doug Grant and all the volunteers. Fun day I'll remember for many years.

Hear ye, hear ye......

Hear ye, hear ye......

Let it be said once and for all that The Pack of Ladies (and the gentlemen accompanying them) showed the so-called Slackers what it means to BE slackers. We proudly rode at the back of the pack for just over 8 hours (3 on SS's). While we were slightly outside of the official cutoff, I think the volunteers enjoyed seeing that we were still trudging(sp?) along ever so slowly.

A few pics (I hope) from our outting

Notice the empty benches all around us? Not a SLACKER in sight by the time we finished.

oh man . . . good thing there were tons of people to help out. I had my co2. My new tires/rims suck! Could barely get mine off the rim & I got a blood blister putting it back on. We hope to ride w/you soon! ;)

What a fun ride and for a good cause. I had a great time and don't think I would've made it if I hadn't been pushed to do longer rides in the weeks before so thank you for that Hugh (even if I did curse you sometimes *he he*)! It was good to see everyone having such a good time, laughing and joking - even the guy at the end (never got your name, sorry...) was cracking jokes while he was cramping. I must've been delirious at one point 'cause I started thinking "why do I have all these gears??"...#-o

Big thanks to all the volunteers and support out there. Based on the turnout, I'd say you guys did an awesome job with this event once again.

I rode with a SSlacker group too. ;)

Great way to get kids in to biking.

Our aid group at work ran a couple of fundraisers for PR. People were very generous once they heard what it was about.
Congrats and thanks to all the volunteers for a great event!

FR/DH slackers

I plan to do the 25 (27)...maybe the 50, again next year and hope to start a new group from STR, the Freeride/DH Slackers. I was the only one riding a FR--- combined weight w/ rack ---47lbs

I hope to see more heavy bikes next year. I think the minimum weight should be 38 lbs. I plan to ride one of my 42lb Stinkys', plus 9 lbs of bottled liquids and snacks on my rear rack.

Throughout the ride I was thinking, "damn those guys went up these hills on SS's?" They are pretty heavy duty. But my freeride wasn't a joy either. Good times:lol:

If you are going to call out min weights I want to start a club for next year too...300lbs minimum weight of bike/rider/gear. Was I the only one in that club for the 50 if not was I the only one in the club on a SS? I always wonder what it would be like to ride with a fast guy on a ballasted bike aka = playing field.

Also wore the jersey yesterday...very nice jersey...man sizes would have been a nice option but I will rock the XL and crack.

Pretty sure Jay would give you a run for your money as far as SS heavy weight champ goes.

I got my money on Jay!:bang::beer:(diet coke)

Here comes the big number one...

I believe the official definition for a Clyde is:

a rider > 200 lbs who always hauls the beer

I could qualify for the club. SUPER CLYDE.

And yes, that was me on the orange Kona.
