I may have posted the ride a bit late or it could been just my breath....or BO....or....never mind.

So no one wants to ride with me today and got up late at 6:30ish(I try to ride on the road early to avoid cars). Checked the board and still no luck finding someone to ride with today so off I go by myself and headed east. Almost got ran over my an old lady trying to get on the freeway on kreamer...it was close. So I stopped at the entrance to SART and saw a bunch of riders.......feeling a bit lonely I decided it's time to graduate from the river trail and do some real road ride.:-k

Few turns later I got to corner of jamboree and chapman....again decision time one which way to go. After seeing a few riders coming out and heading into Santiago canyon I figure I'd find some company.....NOPE! Saw tons of riders on the other side by none my side of the road. Finally a girl passed me by the hills and of course I couldn't let that happen.....so there goes the company.#-o

Long story short I continued on el torro then PCH....finally some company but no one wants to ride with me still.:?: Got on to los coyote river trail to finally head home....no a soul on the trail again.#-o

Got home and not even the wife is home.

All in all logged 90.4 miles at a fairly slow pace....only managed 15.9mph average. #-oBut some streets were narrow so I opted for sidewalks for safety.

I was a good ride but felt kinda weird haha.....

It sounds like you had a good ride, even solo.

My guess is that STR being a MTB'ing site, you'd have a much better chance of finding riding company if you posted an offroad ride. ;)

I found if you do some group rides and find people who have the same riding level and interest as you, send them a PM. (if posting a ride doesn't work for you)

Last road ride I did was coming down Minaret Road in Mammoth. I was going maybe 35 and all padded up from lift assist riding. A lady pulled right in front of me and I put a huge dent in her front fender. Yes I was going fast and I was not wearing a bright colored jersey. I believe I would have broken my elbow if I was not wearing pads. The impact would have destroyed a roadbike. I got off with a small hole in my wrist, bent front rotor and derailuer hanger. Just after the impact I new I was buying a new frame, but apparently the RFX is a tough frame.

Even that scares me, I see someone hit by a car at least once a month here on PCH in Laguna.

If I lived where Shannon lives a roadbike would be in my quill.

This is something i'm well aware of, Traci. I'm not denigrating or dissing roadbiking at all, although it's not for me, for reasons similar to those stated by Dean.

It would be a fine thing if the MTBers on STR who are also into roadbiking could easily find others to ride with by posting here. My point is that as this is a MTBing website, it would be unusual if one posted an offroad ride and ended-up riding solo, but it does not surprise me that one would post a roadride and have no company once in a while.

Granted my meaning is very subtle and couched in crytic terms!;) Carefully read between the lines and i'm certain all will be clear to you.

I should have ridden on the road. I instead decided to take the SS to LCWP where I learned how out of shape I am. Last summer I had no problem at all with Willow or I think I can. Now all I can say is OUCH!!!

Time to pay and hit the road a bit more! Although I think 90 miles would kill me right now!!!
