Arrived at the venue Wednesday morning. 47 degrees and 20 mph winds. Layered up and hit the XC course on the AM bikes. Cut out halfway to save the legs for DS practice on Thursday. Had a good ride and there ended up being no wind once you dropped down off the ridge. The ground is dry and the sand is plentiful!!

Dh is going to be fun, only have got a few runs so but its fun. Did a check out run with Julia. She did good had lots of fun. Had he go do another run with Traci.

Went to DS qualifying. First run did ok but was on the course i didnt like much. Second run on a easy section not far from end I went down pretty hard, twisted the bars, knocked the rear wheel out of drop outs. Got up pretty quick made it down with crocked bars. I had no idea the rear had come out of the dropouts when I rode down. I have no idea if I qualified. I think i did just due the number of people, and that meant everyone qualified. My hip is pretty sour and took my bars to my crotch but past that everything was ok.

Overall, I was happy to attend this event. The weather and people were great. I raced in the Cat 2 XC in the 30 - 35 age group, and not sure what I placed. The only disappointment was that I found the course surprisely sandy, which is something I wasn't custom to riding in. I took 3 bad spills in the sand. Hard enough that I broke my Garmin edge. Thank God nothing else broke. I hope to be back in future years as the area is a beautiful place to visit. If any of you are ever in NYC, check out www.NYCMTB.com for some of our local rides and events. Yes, believe it or not we've been able to carve out some very technical single track on the upper part of Manhattan.

I'll be in the Los Angeles area for the next couple of days. If there are any rides going out please give me a holla. I'd like to check out some of the local trails without getting lost.

    Peace,
    Luis

    Julia wins Dh!!!

I did 1 1/2 runs with Julia this morning and she looked smooth and confident. She had a great race run and came home with a medal and a winner's jersey!!! Go Julia!!!

I have managed to continue my excellent streak.

I crashed in my DH race run. I just ran out of gas and lost control on a very easy section. The worst part is now looking at times If I could have just kept it together a little longer I had a real shot at a podium.

It's been a fun time out her at Sea Otter. Denmother and Roger have showed us around. Julia practiced with Denmother yesterday they were both flying down. I have a cool picture to show you of Denmother and Julia. Unfortunately my posting abilities are limited here. Julia also practiced with Traci and Mark (mfoga) on friday. Mark and Julia have been having a great time out here. Yesterday they watched the Pro Dual Slalom races. Also, yesterday Julia got to chat with Tara Llanes, Julia was really happy about seeing her. Julia really admires Tara I think she notices a courages woman in her.

It was great to see Brandon racing out here. His run was FAST he flew by me and there is no Brandon in my picture.

I am sure Julia will tell you about her race and her race time.

Today Mark (Mfoga) races (Dual Slalom) and Denmother and Roger race DH. I really wish I could stay for that. Instead we will head home and take the scenic route home. It can suck being responsible. The weather out here has been beautiful and today is another beautiful morning.
