Division 26 will be there for sure. Wouldn't miss it! I might actually even get to ride my bike at an event this year besides being chained to the booth.

Not sure that it is really ever Donny answering emails, I think he talks while one of his "assistants" types.:?:

Pretty sure there are going to be 2 courses, but who ever really knows for sure.

    Super D

So I have pulled a bunch of my friends to come and race. We'll mostly be racing Superd, Kamakazie, and XC. Does anyone know what the Super D course will be? Just trying to figure out which bikes to bring up and which tires to run. Same with the Kamakazie run. I have my Tracer with a 36 on the front and a 2.7 Nevegal. I thnk would be great for the Kamakazie. But maybe a bit overkill for the Super D. Help a brother out!!!

Just to put the gearing in perspective, when the Kamikaze was young the gearing was 58 or 60t with an 11t for the high on the rear and the riders would spin out in that on the long straights. Yes the Pros regularly hit the mid 40's these days but an extra 20mph and it makes a bit of a difference even on a flat trail. ;)

Might not be the most tech trail but hit it at 60MPH and things can get hairy. I have an old vid (from 90'somthin') of a GT rider going down (crashing) at 58-60 MPH, It was impressive.

For the Kamikaze I would say toss on at least a 40t up front.

    Thanks

    Thanks CA,
My 36 i was talking bout is my fox36 fork. I am running a standard 3 ring for Mammoth. I rode the Kamakazie before and it gets super hairy the faster you let r rip. Ive seen guys like Tomac in full fairings and skin suits. I wonder how they will end it? Through the woods or off the flats? Either way should be fun!

Julia12 was planning on racing DH at Mammoth. This would be our first trip to Mammoth. I think I have the lodging situation under control. My advice to Julia is to go out ride, get familiar and attend the races. Julia is even unsure of racing with various descriptions of Mammoth given to her. We cannot go out to Mammoth before race weekend for her to practice. Those that know and have ridden with Julia, do you think she can ride this?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Julia will do Fine, she's a great rider, she will adjust and adjust to the terrain in 2 runs.

I'm with brandon. it is an adjustment to riding in the pumice, but once you get the hang on it, the riding is not too bad. I think she should be able to handle it.

If you like, lemme know and I can probably help her out with a few parts. I plan on doing most of my race practice before race weekend, so I should be cruising for the actual practice.

BTW, does ANYONE have any open space to stay? I still don't have housing arranged. all I want is a shower and enough room to unfurl a sleeping bag

I think Julia will be fine. I would just make sure that she takes some time to get use to the pumice on some easier runs. Now her Mom she might be nervous.

that's the educated guess of most people actually. no reason to get mad at you. I'm really hoping for velocity, it'll make an epic race course

I would say that is a good guess, but I have a feeling we will be surprised at exactly what the course is.

Chain smoke is too gnarly to race us down, same with techno rock, and twilight zone is just lame for a race course.. Velocity makes the most sense based on location ease of access and spectator access.. And Bryan, i wouldn't say velocity is epic. It's good but you know Donny will run sport down the crappy beginner line off to the left not the rocky straight line #-o

when they used to race a mammoth years ago, chainsmoke was always the pro/x course..... but according to the website, chainsmoke will be open to the public, so we wont be racing that...
