My friend suggested putting risers on my bike...
any thoughts on the real benefits from those who use 'em ??
Is it worth the change...

It really boils down to your riding style. Are you comfortable in your position on the bike now? A riser bar will just give you a more upright position which will aid in its downhill capability by putting less weight over the front of the bike. Flat bars are for xc racers for the most part.

Rob's got it right.

I'll add that in my experience, a higher (and wider) handlebar gave me more stability but reduced the overall responsiveness of my bike. Back in TX I needed to navigate tight and twisty singletrack without the extended (and often steep) decents we have here. A flat and narrower (by about 1 inch) bar was great out there, but here I like having the extra stability afforded by the slight rise and wider bar.

Take the concept to the extreme and look at the differences in geometry between fast and highly responsive road bikes and more laid-back and uber-stable big-hit bombers.

I agree with Rob and Lance. And if you care about the "cool factor", then you gotta have a riser bar! Check Jensonusa.com and pricepoint.com they often are clearing out easton carbon riser bars for $59.99 or so...

Riser bar

I might have a Azonic World Force riser bar I don't need... Only thing is its a 2.5" rise which is a little tall but if it will work for you, I will sell it cheap.

There are NO scratches on it just the normal wear on a bar

Let me know

Brian

I've got about 4 riser bars I am looking to sell. Couple of Eastons, and an Answer pro taper carbon. One of the Eastons is a 31.8 nanotube carbon. Anyone interested let me know :)

Bars

What models of bars do you have and what are you pricing each one at??

Also could you list the materials for each??? I am building a SS and could use some bars possibly

Thanks,

Brian

It's a go...

Thanks for the input...sounds like it could make for a better ride not to mention the sore back I get from longer rides in my current position. Pretty much every ride my goal is a good downhill so the weight distribution will be a plus !! 2.5'' a bit too tall but I'll check out the sites you mentioned. May be in touch FX after pricing what's new.
THANKS...:D

Well Rob, what don't you have? Should I just save myself a trip to Jenson and just drop by your house instead? :)
