Nope. First responders are focused on saving your butt. They'll take YOU to the hospital, but all your extra junk gets left behind. They're not going to waste time gathering up your belongings. And if they cut off your pants, then anything in your pockets is also lost. The people at the hospital will have no idea who you are. A RoadID is a pretty good idea.

If you say so, whatever floats your boat. There are many ways to skin a cat. I've put my drivers license in my pocket many times whenever I felt the need to leave my wallet. A simple sticker with a phone number on the back works wonders.

In any case, if I'm unconscious, I'll be in no hurry to have the wife be told where I am.

Quick question, what is the fear here? Unmarked grave? :) I got my mom one of those bracelets mainly for her medical condition.

I can't speak for all rescuers but I, and my colleagues, always send your junk with you after we save your butt. The primary exception being the homeless and all their belongings. They usually have a sh!t-ton of smelly stuff. Unless you plan on bringing your shopping cart house with you on your next ride, it most likely will be sent with you.

I keep an expired driver's license and a paper copy of my insurance card in a plastic holder with me when I go on rides. I don't keep a current copy of my license because I'll forget it.

RoadID makes sense to me. Blood type, medical conditions and any know allergies (or NKA for no known allergies) is all they really need to know right away.

Careful with that one, I do belive it illegal to have two IDs on your person. So after your ride if you had you expire DL and your current DL on you that's illegal (if I remember right).

Yeah, if worst comes to worst then you wouldn't want to be found dead to rights.

That just can't be correct. It is illegal to have a fake government ID, so it is therefore illegal to have 2 different driver's licenses. But if both of them are different versions of the same legal ID you should be fine. What would they arrest you for, impersonating yourself?

    There is the law.

If you want to have a extra ID get a Californina ID card.

An expired drivers license is not a valid driver's license. There is no way that is it illegal to carry your own expired driver's license and your own current drivers license. It is the same license.

There is no mention of valid or invalid so it reads as no more than one. I was also warned not to while testing equipment at a PD. I needed to test all the current formats for a scanner and had brough my expired license. Your more than welcome to test it if you like.
