DH tomorrow should be fun.

Was a good day of riding / racing took 2nd in Expert 4X , No DH for me . I rode the course once though and my famous section I couldn't believe the line I took in the first winter series race to fly off that rock and crash .

Ok here is my RR.

Yesterday I was very unmotivated. Got there and BSed for almost and 1 1/2. Then shuttled up and did a run. It was an ok course nothing to write home about, just loose. I decided to race 4x since the new format where you get more then one run is being used. Just about everyones goal in the Beg Men class was take out Tom( including his teammates:lol:). So my first run is against Tom and another guy who is a BMXer. I try to take my cut the first corner though the flat and block the hell out of them, abot 1/2-3/4 ways through the turn front tire washes to much and then slamed hard to ground. got up to see how my body was grabbed my bike and coasted down to heckling from Incycle. Get to the bottom and my shoulder is hurting. I go back up for second run try to pull at the gate and drop right back down as it killed my shoulder. Coasted down to more heckling from Incycle. Skipped third run. It was sore the rest of night but ok as long as I didnt move it to much or wrong. Woke up to virtually no range of motion , but can at least move it now but only with quite a bit of pain. Obviously skipped my DH race today:(

to answer your question: yes, it STINGS #-o

so yeah, my saturday wasn't the best in the world. got out there around 7:30 and found DBD. went and hiked a run. flew out of the 4th turn (the left hander that essentially a sideways rut). kept moving, and headed down. laid the bike out after the S-turn right past the saddle. after a bit of detangling of tape, went on. took the last right-hand turn down to the road wide, and VERY fast, and ended up endoing when I hit the V-ditch at the bottom. didn't hurt, but relocated my bars a bit.

second run: fixed my bars, and took off. crashed on some right hander. then some other left hander, the the wide banked right hander, then the lefthander after the rocks towards the bottom, then the....

basically, I crashed like 8 times. got annoyed, and went down to the car. went to hop off the bike, and ripped my pants. already VERY annoyed, I ended up tossing the bike and my helmet (sorry to the XC guy I almost hit #-o)

onto 4X. crashed in the 3rd turn on my first run. jammed my shoulder, so I couldn't really pull ont he bars. lost the next moto because of it, and went to #3. went inside on turn #2, got locked up with one of the other guys (Dan I think?) and we both got ejected over the double. landed on the same shoulder. we were both able to ride it out though, so no huge injuries.

I also got some pictures I took today for DH. got pretty much everybody at least once (some more) except a few people who I missed because I got a tad distracted. I'll post up some cool ones later.

I must say, I have had a blast these last few races! I consider myself quite lucky to have made the finals in my first 3 MTX/4X or whatever the designation is. I've gotten to meet some really nice people, been welcomed by most everyone and have been having fun. I really enjoy the atmosphere at the races and the comraderie....thanks.

Okay, so for a race report. So, when I get to the park, I run into my normal crew, hang out and then go sign up. Cheez calls me out on my way to the sign up tables, that always makes me smile. See a few guys I haven't seen in a while, get a little caught up with them, then on to tuning the bike.

Make a few practice runs, get some gates, feeling okay for the day. Around race time, I start getting a bit nervous, as there are 9 total in my class. 1st rack, Tom gets a great gate and I'm cranking in second, see Mark go into the turn REALLY low, he washes out. Hope he's okay as I make my way down the rest of the course, hoping that Tom will make a mistake (well, we know THAT didn't happen!).

Up for the next round, I have Mark & BryGuy in my race, still a bit nervous, as these two are younger, faster & lighter than me! I get a great (for me) gate and take off, but I can hear someone right on my tail, I keep going, hit the lower section into "My" turn and there's BryGuy coming right alongside me, but on the outside going into the next turn, so I ride him outside a bit, and then I hear him crash on the inside of me (thinking WTF? How did he cut back inside so quick? Dern whippersnappers!). I'm waaaay out of breath but very happy to have a bit of a break going into the semi. Semi's up and somehow, I'm stuck with Tom again! So Tom, Art & I load up in the gate. BAM! Tom is out like a lightning bolt and I am in the wrong gear, looks like I'm out of contention, but I keep going knowing that anything can happen in a race. Sure enough, coming into turn 3, I see Art on the ground and his bike coming up towards my line. If it had gone any further, I would have owed Art a new wheel! I keep going and make it to the finals! Still waaaay out of breath, Tom telling me to stop rushing up the hill as they have to wait for us old farts anyway.

Main time, and I'm still nervous! It's Tom, Mr. Cox (forgot your first name after the beers bro, sorry!), my friend Robert and myself. I get a good gate, but I am off the back (as usual in the mains...sheesh! Get in shape will ya?). Still, all in all, it was fun and a great day of racing!

Thanks again to everyone who has welcomed me and has been supportive!

So after some time off the bike I decided I had to do this race. Didn't make it out on Saturday so I rolled out early on Sunday to try and get some practice. Fontana was a cold wet windy hell today. It was hailing a little at one point. I was soaked to the bone for all three of my practice runs. The sun started to peak out right before the last shuttle so I ditch the wet jacket and put on fresh socks, gloves, and jersey. Once I get to the top I find out that theres an arctic blast of wind taking away any warmth the intermitent sun might be giving.

As far as the course goes it was real nice and tacky for the pro's I imagine, but the muddy rutted course we all practiced on was dry in most places by the time us beginners went. It seemed very similar to the first course of the season with almost no rock gardens to speak of.

btw: Mfoga and Bryguy, hope your injuries heal up quick.

My ride report, By DirtyMike

So, here is my ride report, I missed out on saturday, and as ti would turn out, it didnt matter seeing how the rain destroyed any lines that were to be had for Todays race.

So I left the house at seven, it was beautifal when I left, clear skies, gentle breeze, So I grab mys tuff, head out, about Pyrite I get some sprinkles, I think cool, the course is going to get a little damp.

Stop at Albertsons get some water and some cash, come out side little mroe rain. Get parked, get signed in....... and it starts friggin raining. So I decide to weight it out, gets worse, wait some more, gets worse....Lets up a little, so I chance it and go for a run..... what a mistake, it was wet on the trail, I was riding down a river of clay mud, after the third turn, I just wanted to get back to the truck.

So.... over to rite aid.....Buy myself a new rain jacket seeing how I left all my rain gear at home. Go over to Albersons, get a twelve pack, have a couple before the race. Put my wet soaked ass gear back on, shiver for awhile, get on the truck, head up and wait<suprizingly short time> Get up top, and its been drying out for awhile now, it was great conditions for a ride, would have been better if it was like that all day and I actually had some lines worked out.

So I head in, I push a bit and feel the sting in the wrist, back off a bit and just ride. Andy saw my slopp ass line, I hear Why you riding clydes.....I say, cause I am fat and stupid.....So I ride on, have a good clean run.....I feel pretty good, blaze up across to the road, have a bitchen clean run in the lower rocks, and get my ass up off the seat and sprint the wall. Good times, I had a blast.

Cleaning the bike afterwords on the other hand..... Sucked alot of ass.

I think I might be the only one that enjoys riding mudbog DH. I guess I got use to it riding in Hawaii. Anyways, I finished 6th (DH BegMen 26-34) today which is what I deserved with the 2 or 3 mistakes I made, but I took overall 3rd in the series. I think they made a mistake though. After looking at the SR USA web site, I noticed I was ahead of 4th (Jesse Rhoads) by 5 points after race #5. Today I think he was 2 places ahead (4th) which should give him 10 more points then what I made today. Maybe I missed something, or they did. :?: I guess we'll see when they post it up.
Either way 4th overall isnt bad considering I missed the first race. Super fun, looking forward to the next. :)
Oh and I got some bad a$$ Royal riding pants in the raffle. :bang:

Update: They gave him 10 points for race #5 that he signed up for but didnt race.

Hey eric, is there something I need to do to download the digital pics after I order them?
