Red Rock open access day this morning. Not sure why IRC likes to do the Bommer and Red Rock open access days on the same day, but after some internal debate, I decided on Red Rock. Probably a good choice as it was not very crowded.
Weather was overcast, which was good for my energy levels. The first downhill trail was Trail 4, which I think is one of the best singletracks around. After that, up — down — up Trail 5 and over to Trail 3. After a fun, fast downhill, I climbed Trail 1 (yeah, they need better trail names) and another blast down Trail 4 ... although this one was hindered by hikers. Not unexpected.
Once again up Trail 5 (which is right next to Irvine Lake with some great views), and all the way back to the start of Trail 2. I had unfinished business on this one as the last time I was held up by a docent on a group ride. Unhindered, I crushed the KOM. Actually pretty surprised about that KOM as I made a mistake that cost me a good 10 seconds. Good to know I can go even faster.
