I already sent this to Sharky, but does anyone have any pics of the kids race?

It was both of my boys first race ever and i would be stoked if there are any pics floating around out there?

Did you try contacting Monique Spaulding? She usually takes pictures of the kids races. I'll send her a message on Facebook and let her know you are looking.

I have a question? For Eric, Lee ect for the guys/girls that have been around. Daven is getting into racing and he always says someone pushed him in a corner. I told him take your line and hold it. If that means you put the other rider off the track and dont purposefully try to hurt some one its racing and fair game.. Am I right to say hold your line, or force it when needed?

That's what I was taught!!!;) I remember one of the Pros teaching a BMX clinic and he had to remind the parents that "BMX is a contact sport", expect that your children will fall down and might get hurt. It's important to know what to expect!!! Also, some of the younger more inexperienced kids have a slight problem with riding in a straight line and might "veer" into you unintentionally!!!

yeah..she said she didn't shoot it this weekend

there is going to be contact, i guess the type of contact is not a fine definitive line.....in some instances, you have to fight for your space, two riders will often try to occupy the same position....it is funny this is being asked after this weekend,

here is my take.

if there is room on the inside line you can expect it to be filled by a rider behind you, if the intent of the rider passing is to crash the other rider or said rider during the pass is taking a line that is impossible to make unless contact is made with the rider he /she is passing that will surely result in the rider being passed crashing, thats when it becomes dirty riding....

if passing a rider elbows are bumped or riders are leaning on each other but are able to continue racing...i think that is deemed good hard racing.

during good hard racing it is ok to fight for your line/space.

and the general rule is the rider in the lead controls the line....so if the lead rider moves over on a rider behind them cutting them off it is a legal maneuver,

i hope this helps?

Hence the reason MOM does not come to the track!! But hey, she had boys. Its not my fault. Not saying girls dont race as well, but you know boys. As a PR move 90% of the girls at the track will smoke me.;)

Sorry Eric, I was just asking from a previous post you made. I want my kids to have fun racing and not be jerks just to win. You win sometimes by being humble and riding another day.

Except in ABA racing where this is now illegal on the last straight.

Otherwise, EC pretty well covered it, and as he said, there's no definitive line between fair and foul. The eye for determining this comes with experience. And what I mean by experience is being able to identify what lines are doable, vs. what lines are chosen merely with the intention of taking someone out (and yet again different than block passing, as was discussed in another thread).

In regards to EC's race, I wasn't there, so I can't really say. However, knowing how these things play out, and seeing EC's explanation (which I believe sounds very realistic given the conditions), it sounds like he did what had to be done. I've done similar things (I don't know exactly what he did, but I can imagine) - and I'll do it again if I have to. I don't think anyone should hold this against him.

There's a point when you have to let some of the other racers know when they're out of line and being overly aggressive or making bad judgement calls. But Danny, you really don't want to teach your sons this...yet.

Eric Carter on Blackstar?

This is way off topic, but I think I recognize the guy in one of the photos. Eric, were you riding down Blackstar on 3/15 around noon? I was passed by the fastest thing I have ever seen on a bicycle. Very impressive whoever he was.

I did my best to make it easy to find yourself. If you cannot find a picture of yourself let me know. Ill search through my full size non-watermarked pictures and see if I can locate you.
If you want me to look, a PM might be better than a post on the thread. I would help keep unneeded posts off and make it easier for everyone to read
