Race Report: Southridge 18th annual challenge (threads merged)

seems we have alot of first time racers here, so lets have a simple reminder, sandbaggers will always be there, something you just get used to. Unfortunatly its just how it is. Beignner class, you end up with people that have never raced before, and have no idea were they are at, so they go for beginner and sweep, they think the first race is a fluke, so they grab another, by then they dont change classes so they are still in for the overall.


Truth be said, if your in the top five consistantly, move up. If you jump in and realize your faster than the group, finish out that series, not the year, and move up. I know this isnt the answer people want to hear, but its just how it is.


Lets also have a reminder of something that happened at this race, people who were racing expert and dropped to sport for mammoth, were not allowed to return to expert for this race. They were basically told, If you cant race expert there, your not really an expert.


Either way, Everyone had a good time, and that is what is most important.

As a racing noob I thank you for these words of wisdom. It didn't matter to me that the 1st place guy in my class was 20 seconds faster than me, I just want to see his lines so I can learn to be faster. All in all, I had a great experience in my first race and look forward to many more!

 

FYI, it's actually an awards ceremony. There are snacks and a bar, but no actual food. Last year there were nachos, buffalo wings and M&Ms.

 

Thats food to us younger men out here racing :lol:

Stepped up to expert, didnt crash all weekend (didnt count fri) race went really well, still need to step up my pedaling skills. got 12th or 14th or something.

and i beat adrian.

 

oh yeah. at some point in time I've made a meal out of any one of those. getting two or more at once is a treat!

 

Board in class today so I did some work on the picture.
Color touch up and moved the watermark so you can see yourself better. The bike looks really pink now. I might try to fix that..

 

were is the banquet at.. i like buffalo wings non spicy please! :lol:

At the race they said everyone can come but only SRC members can win stuff

 

The raffle last year was nice. I'm not winning any awards/jersey this year as I missed the majority of the races, but that $40? membership I paid at the beginning of the year might pay off in raffle winnings! I'll be there!

ya ya ya.....u got me by 9 seconds and 10 years in ago.......

 

Course was fun went up on Sunday and walked up took off and got to second expert/pro split got rear flat and had to walk all the way down (sucked) . Fixed tire and got 2 runs in then headed up for race run . I haven't raced a DH race since Winter series #1 back in January where I crashed (windy) . This was my 3rd vet pro race and the first 2 didn't go so good got 8th and 13th I think and was wanting to do better this race but in race run over that rock at the top I forgot to go right and went through banners on left side , I had to get off bike and carry bike back on course . I ended up with a 2:43:?? and got 8th Vet-Pro. I would have gotten 2nd in expert so I think I'm in the correct class , just need to put together a clean run .

 

You didnt get you membership at begining of the year?

I didnt get what I thought I would out of the membership but I got my money back after just a few races since I was racing DH and 4x at first.

 

typo, got it at the 1st race. I heard you could renew it last weekend, and at last year's banquet you could renew it there as well which is what i plan on doing.

If you race four races it has already paid for itself, the banquet is usually an everyone wins something raffle.
