I can't wait to read!!! It was a total bummer to be there cheering everyone on the WHOLE entire day and leave just before the awards started #-o

 

I just want to say a very heartfelt THANK YOU (with hugs) to all those who cheered us on and also to those of you who packed down the loose stuff for us beginners. You guys really made what was an incredibly grueling and painful ride so much more bearable. I hope to do the same for you guys one day.

I think there's a lot to be said for racing....I'm still on my endorphin high!

 

GRACE!!!!!! If you don't start boasting I am going to be forced to brag for you and spoil the surprise! I KNOW your husband took a picture of it. At least post THAT pic so I can start braggin on your behalf!!!!

3rd! out of 13

I hammered out of the gate, my heart rate wouldn't come down at all and scared me silly, I got passed by the kid from Incycle I raced against last month while puking but not stopping, got some great motivation by those spectating and felt like crap when i finished.

as usual, i would have ended up around 10th if I moved up an age bracket.

It was a fun race, for my first race I'm happy with 5th out of 13 in the beginner mens, out of the gate i was hauling ass, but hit the first hill and quickly realized i wasnt as fast as I thought i was. The first lap was killer, my legs were like "what are you doing" but the second lap i was all warmed up and had a much faster lap, even passed a good amount of peeps. but it was too late, no catching up with the main body

And i must throw out a huge thanks to Traci and Neil for coming out and cheering us all on, again, without their help I wouldnt be anywhere near riding how i am today.

Great job everyone and nice meeting some new faces!! I heard it rained in the morning but beautiful and the course looked good as I arrived. CONGRATULATIONS ALL...:wave:let's hear about your races. Big thumbs up to Allison and Justin for their firsts, also !!

i'm still sorting through the pics I took, but I managed to get a couple photos of every rider in the sport/pro/SS/etc group that took off. I took video I just need to up load it. I dont have any programs just yet.

I will work on up loading the pictures I took. Soon over 1000 pictures.

My husband took mostly pictures of me, so here are a few of the others.

 

yep, it was fun! Just like davidB I did not preride and pushed too hard on the first lap. Those climbs taught me a good lesson. But unlike davidB I did not recover for the 2nd. And my 2nd was even slower.
Highlights of the track - all the st sections including a specially memorable bumpy ride through the fields; farmhouse with cows mooing at passing riders; that killer last HAB...
oh, and my personal favorite - me flying otb right after crossing the finish line. My hadlebar got caught in that orange wall thingy they use to separate lanes, it turned my wheel, locked my brake for me and otb I went. It was soft lending on wet and mushy grass. I hope somebody caught it on photo/video.

All in all it was an excellent first race experience.

At the end I won an empty plastic bottle and a 10 speed chain (anyone needs a 10 speed chain?) in a raffle.
