BIG fan of U.S. Bombs & Duane Peters & the Hunns & Die Hunns. Interested. You going? Anyone else here ride Alva decks?
I usually have good intentions of going to these little shows....then i get home play with the kids and do not want to leave the house again. I am a big Duane fan both skating and musically (if you call his drooling growl music) so I might power up for this one.
I have a date tonight. With a girl! I'm thinking this might be pretty awesome, or not... The jury's still out on this one...
Went out bike shopping with a buddy today and made a pit stop at Burger records. I found a bastard noise 12" and an Unwound 7" on Gravity records-took me back. My buddy picked-up some neon king kong, indian jewelry and the bad parents lp. ... Didn't find bikes-we were looking for cx bikes- but we got some music.
I watched this yesterday, got all types of nostalgic. I first heard bastard noise at Green Records, discovered Damad at Bionic, bought my first DK shirt at Top Ten. Sucks that's no legit record stores in south county, then I started thinking "lets take a huge risk and open a record store in the canyon!". Then I realized I don't even shop at our local record stores anymore. I get all my vinyl at shows or online. I've made a decision to start visiting Factory Records at least once a month to support my "local" record store.
While plundering the clearance section at Hot topic I came across this LP. Never heard of them, bought it becuse of the producer (defeater, title fight). A little "poppy", but pretty damn good.
I'm late to this thread as I haven't been on here for quite a while. So, here it goes~ Summer 1978 I was totally into Black Sabbath, UFO, Thin Lizzy, Deep Purple etc... you get the picture. A friend of mine who had a HUGE record collection (remember those, kids?) introduced me to the Ramones. Hearing that LP, that Summer in 1978 changed my life FOREVER. I had hair waaaaay past my shoulders and these were PUNKS! They had long hair too! This was before punk had any "definitions" and punk was whatever you wanted it to be. I grew up in the South Bay of Los Angeles. Obviously a punk paradise as the bands that I saw on a regular basis at house parties emerged to be the frontrunners of the punk movement. Black Flag, Circle Jerks, X, Social Distortion etc.... I never stopped liking the metal bands, I never stopped liking my parents (old school) country music. My dad took me to see Johnny Ca$h in the early 70's! Anyway, I grew up in such a wonderful time. Back then the music you listened to DEFINED you as a person. You were either a hippie, a new waver, a punk etc... how you dressed as well. NOBODY liked two different types of genres. I never liked that part of "the scene" and until Motorhead was accepted by both punks and metal fans, it was rare to see long hair at punk shows. Anyways...what a great thread! So many songs and bands I haven't even thought of in a long time! DRI? Awesome! I loved that band!
That's hilarious! And true. Never understood the whiney crap... Stray_Bullit, welcome to the punk thread. Glad to have you join us.
