Last night while at work at LAX, the fog rolled in pretty thick and this morning it got kinda cold and damp. Really wasn't sure I'd go ride, but I drove down to the beach and saw that it wasn't so bad so I did my usual Monday morning ride this morning.

Weather was a bit on the cool side, but I figured it would burn off, but it never did, at least along the route I took.

After a much needed cup of coffee and bagel, I headed out from Playa Del Rey. There is a free parking at Del Rey Lagoon Park off Pacific Ave. I headed towards Santa Monica via South Bay Bike path, through Marina Del Rey, Venice and Santa Monica Beaches.

Be careful riding along the beach bike paths along Venice and Santa Monica as it's very sandy and with the twist and turns. The last time I headed towards Malibu, I took Ocean Ave which is a nice option if you want ti avoid the sandy bike paths.

Once I hit Will Rogers where I turned around last time, I got on PCH and headed towards Malibu.

Once I got to Zuma Beach, I went down to the beach just to check it out

    This really isn't me. ;)

I road along Zuma's beach front. You might of seen this in the news. They painted all of the life guard stations with different colored rails. This was done to the the ones in Malibu and Santa Monica beach stations as well.

I went down a bit farther as I remembered seeing a Starbucks when I did the Backbone Trail a few weeks ago for a little snack before heading back.

Heading back seemed down hill or I must of had a tail wind as I was moving much easier heading southbound.

You can see the marine layer trying to burn off.

Across from Pepperdine University, there is Malibu Bluffs Park. Nice ocean views there.

Looks like some trails there. Probably hiking only.

After a short break, I continued heading back. Here's a pic of Malibu Pier.

Ride time was just under 5 hrs which includes stops/break/pics. Miles ridden was 60.3(15.3 mph average). I decided it was too sandy through Venice so I took side streets till I got to Washington Blvd. I enjoy riding in this area. Don't get me wrong, I like South OC roads too, but its nice to have different scenery. Here is my GL file if you ever want to check it out.

Thanks, it must of been because I started out tired then my lungs and legs woke up because the elevation profile shows downhill at the start.

    Nice Gene.

No worries you'll never be a full roadie until you sport these. Rain or shine.

You were in my hood today! What time were you out there?
I was in Zuma about 9/9:30. I would be in a FedEx van though!;) I start vacation May 7th. Maybe we can hook up for a ride. I know some great roads out there. If you don't mind climbing and I know you don't!
Anyway, I thought there were more 'Freds' than usual on PCH!

Not your computer, my "bucket" was full, but it's fixed now. Thanks.

Thanks, it wasn't as bad I thought. I just hold my line and hope the cars "SHARE THE ROAD" like the sign says.

Thanks Liz. I didn't roll from PDR till about 9:00 and took my time so I was there probably around 11:00. A ride would be great Liz. I usually ride on Mondays since I work Sunday night at LAX. I carpool the other 3 days. So lets plan on May 10, Monday. Hopefully I have a decent night at work so I can keep up.
