I've seen them there. The oldest one did look like a dad.

    Rattlesnake Trail

I rode rattlesnake to the Burma rd and down as Drop D has suggested. Technically the conservancy do not own this area yet (belongs to the York Group I believe) but they are rapidly gathering funds to get it purchased by the end of December. if successful who knows how they will classify it.

There is a sign posted at the top entrance now with a map of the allowed trails to use. Be warned though it is very hard to read and they really need to be bit more clearer with different colors. Either that or provide a large magnifying glass!

Yes did close to that on Monday afternoon, its a good work out, it must have been pretty cool up there at 8am this morning though. I was leathered up and out on my motorcycle at that time and it was chilly!

    The Google link is neat.

It wasn't too bad, I was sweating so hard I had to switch from long sleeves to short sleeves, even though there was no sun... I could probably have done close to 10miles if I went all the way to the soccer field...

Still working on how this all works but for anyone interested PV Bicycles (Hawthorne & Silver Spur) have the Specialised and the Titus demo trailers at the shop tomorrow (Sunday from 8am all day) They will let you borrow bikes and take them up to Del Cerro to test them.

Rode the Rattlesnake down to Burma around the lower loop and back up Burma on Titus Guapo. Thats a good all round mountain bike with all the normal low gears and pretty light. L frame a tad small for me but I guess they do not do anything larger. Overall good down hill and good climber. Might even go back later today and try another.

How did you log the Google map info. I tried out the trailguru tonight on my I Phone and it was very vague giving me 3 straight lines and missing a lot of the trails with nothing for rattlesnake at all. Did you just do it manually?

The RPV city council has hired park rangers to patrol Portuguese Bend. PVP News http://pvnews.com/articles/2009/12/10/local_news/news4.txt:

"Starting on Tuesday, Dec. 15, the city of RPV will embark on a four-month trial period with the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority, which provides contract park ranger services. MRCA rangers will be on the clock for 30 hours per week, primarily patrolling the area in the Portuguese Bend Reserve burned in the Aug. 27 wildfire, at a cost of $23,000."

Don't know how many of you have been riding the Upper Filiorum area, but the PVLC just aquired this portion, which means there is no longer any place (in PV) to enjoy riding without trail politics.

Eaiser to sail with the wind than against.

It only took them 20 years to gain land rights, the question is how to establish other user groups right to enjoy the "public" open space. Liability is the big reason DH riders will never have Carte Blanche at a location like this, head out to the (909) on the other hand and you can jump a flaming School Bus:bang:.
