Ride it. Live it. Love it.
Palm Cyn is SoCal at its best.

Rode it today. Excellent conditions. The sandwash is like concrete... well maybe not, but it was in great condition. Water crossing were minimal and not an issue at all.

I'm riding it Thursday for the first time. Hoping this latest storm doesn't leave too much snow at the trail head!

Well, that's my concern...the snow and cold...and raging rivers. I'm a warm weather type. I ride in the winter, don't get me wrong, but we don't get snow in Diego, so I wouldn't even think of riding in the snow...OH, HAIL NO![-X

Is Palm Canyon in Palm Springs? I'll be there Fri-Sunday if you want a ride partner.

I know a couple riding it tomorrow too - I'm holding out for the weather review in the am. Thanks for the update on the creek crossing.

I also rode it on Tuesday, almost looks like a storm did not blow through there.

Water crossings are nothing. Trail is perfect and dried out for the most part. There are only a few small areas that look like they received rain, but most of the trail just looks perfect (like always)

I have ridden Palm Cyn and started in snow flurries and ice puddles up at Palm View dr. By the time we got down to Vons it was about 65 or so. At this time of year be prepared for anything and wear armor just for brush protection more than anything else

Just get off the fence and do it, you won't regret it. Palm Canyon is a must do for anyone that rides MTB's.

Rode it Tues with Sailor Ripley, Surprisingly the water crossings were minimal. This storm looks to be light . I would say it should be great. The dirt was great, the wash wasn't as firm as I thought it was going to be but passable. Balls baby go do it .

You're all definitely a motivated bunch and I appreciate the encouragement:wave: I will be going out there with the questionably sane mtblocos...which is why I had to confirm the conditions. I'm still plucking thorns out of my ass from the previous "it's gonna be wonderful, trust me" ride they took me on...#-o:lol:

On wed. it had very little snow at the top trailhead, It was raining like hell mostly. It did snow, but not enough to matter.
We only rode Art Smith, which was not that bad of a climb as it turns out, and even better of a DH...Duh!

I am going to be out there on friday (TODAY! Leaving soon!)

Only problem is I don't shuttle (hard with only 1 car). I start from the bottom and ride my way up. See some of you all out there! I am planning on getting up past the gate at least, then hitting Hahn on the way down and also going up to murrays

I got a chance to ride this last weekend here's the current conditions as of Dec. 8, 2012....(I didn't start from Pineview so I don't know how that portion of trail is right now)

Pinyon Flats Trail (from the campground) is dry and in very good condition....watch for a minor washout about 2/3 of the way down before the canyon.

Palm Canyon Trail is dry and somewhat sandy but overall in good condition. The creeks are bone dry and there is no mud in the area with the willows.

Indian Potrero is also dry and good shape....there is no water down by the big granite rock-pool HAB section......

The sand wash section is horrible right now.......to make is easier on yourself just after passing the trail-sign to Vandeventer look for the single-track on the right-side of the wash which is on firmer ground...but even that has a few sand-pits here and there. Usually the sand wash "firms-up" the closer you get to Dunn but not this time.......

Hahn Buena Vista has some sandy sections......watch your speed.

Fern trail has sand but its not so bad......I believe it still is easier to ride Fern instead of taking the cutoff up to Dunn road then back down like mountainbikebill suggests..

Wildhorse/Garstin/Goat Trails are all in excellent conditions 100% rideable....also no issues with break-ins/broken windows/etc. with the shuttle vehicles at the campground.
