Great shots TWC! Is this proof I am too fast for my own good? Pic #278, Plate #384

Thanks OTH guys, I've missed the first two and probably won't be able to get back until the 2nd series. I completed 1 race last year, basically the same course. So I was ready (in my head) for the 2.5 laps. That just meant 3 lake 'climbs' - which I was able to clean on my test laps; but forget doing it during the race. There was just no point - too many bodies on the course. To be fair, the third time I can't use that excuse - that one was my fault, but each time I was back on well before the metal pipe.

For me, a great race. Last year I was 29th/36. This year, top 20% of all beginner riders - was I supposed to get a Pint glass if I'm in the top 30% of my division??? I improved my time by over 9 minutes. I don't think I got passed by any "B"s, but I was slow at the start so I just never caught the 16 B3's in front of me.

The best adrenaline rush for me was the very first climb. I knew coming around that 90 deg corner going up the asphault there were going to be some slow movers. Started passing a guy to his left, and I hear, "on your left" directed at me... he's even leaning on my just outside of my per. vision... I shift up, hammer down and never see him again... hey - it's a race. That's how I feel about the Expert guys too - I know you're racing, I know you're faster than me but dammit I'm racing too. I'll be courteous and even tell you when there is a good spot coming up - GO! but no way in hell I'm stopping to let you by.

The first week was my first ever race - and I kept pulling over into the slow lane to allow others to pass. This is what I thought too, but didn't act on it...will next time.

No reason to slow down, but if it's double wide you don't have to try and take the whole trail either. Not to say that there weren't a few out there on the more aggressive side of things, but it's par for the course.

In fair disclosure to everyone at OTH and especially the ladies sport calss..I guess I went out with the class ahead of the womens sport by accident being my first race and all...I listened to the people aorund me and well....you can see the repsoes below....I just want to be fair and say I was SECOND!

"Thanks for your response. Again of course I would never do that intentionally I am not getting paid to race LOL like I said it was my first experience and it was a tad confusing at least I did all the laps and didn't do extra's like so many other on the STR site at least I knew how to count LOL ....and like I said it's all logged on my Strava account....

I wish I knew how to contact Amy...if she wants to contact me I am happy to give her my gift card etc. I feel horrible...truly ....She kept questioning me after the race and I guess I would have done the same and she is going for points every week etc and I am not...I am hopeful to make it to one or two more....and will line up BEHIND the girls...that way no confusion!
If Amy wants to contact me again I am happy to swap her gft card or just give it to her I feel so horribly bad and I will also post if on STR...
    Thanks again!
    Miss AJ
BTW-what a great race and organization...way too cool people!

Yeah, I didn’t figure it was intentional. Rather than disqualification, I’m going to add a 1 minute, 10 seconds to your time. That will put you in second. It would not be fair to simply add a minute and keep you as the winner, since the race winner would have never had the chance to race for the win. Regardless, you had a good race, and you and Amy are pretty close. Should be good competition going forward.

Hello! It was my first race so believe me i totally apologize. I lined up with the sign that said men sport three and four thats where I was told to go out? I was with a group of men in the front and thus guy told me u go with them ... They moved the signs out of the way and a wave went then I went ....
I am terribly sorry if that was the case again i was just shuffled around and on the far right side etc my garmin said 1hour even on strava but I started it a little early
Please let me know if you need anything further again I mean nor meant no dishonesty

    Hello AJ,
I’ve received a couple of emails that you may have started with the wrong class on Tuesday night. If that’s the case, we need to adjust the results. Can you please let me know if that’s the case.

    Thank you.

Way to go girl!

Although I have only met AJ once, there is ZERO doubt in my mind it was unintentional!

For the record: Amy is way cool.

Photo status update for Thursday afternoon. Photos are all processed (1,350 of them!) and are now uploading to our website. It will take all night to load them as these are very high resolution files. Once they are up on Friday morning, I will post a new link in this thread. Thanks again for your patience. I hope you will find it was worth the wait.

Steve, your photos are incredible. I think you did a great job capturing the action around the uphill turn on the singletrack. Cannondale should buy some of those photos of Tinker from you for their advertising.

Totally surreal to be doing a slow pre-ride and Tinker passes me heading to check-in. He was crushing global competition when I was buying my first Mtn Bike for $800 back in '98. Yup, a Cannondale.
