After little coercing, @doublewide and I hit Oregon one more time before the riding season ended. So far, I haven't ridden anything better. Friday was Alpine Trail and Saturday was Alpine and 3Drop. 3Drop consisted of three shuttles to three different trails: Larison, Aubrey and Dead Mtn. Oakridge is a logging town gone bust. Not many merchants but we did bag a good place to stay, brewery (very important) and a hamburger stand. The people are not too friendly but are cordial. Aubrey was my absolute favorite. We reached speeds up to 29mph (ok, I might have reached 25...LOL) on flowy, fast single track. There were some steep sections that kept things interesting. I'm starting to be comfortable w my back tire fishtailing down steeps. Larison was #$@4&-% scary!! Narrow, off camber trails w BIG penalties if you overshoot corners or hit your pedal on a rock, root or embankment. Dead Mountain was Snow Summit on steroids: massive flowy berms w kickers and whoop de doos to keep you grinning. Without further ado, my pics (there's not many cuz who stops to take pics while you're having a blast? Not us): Our bikes being shuttled. Office Bridge. Alpine meadow. Alpine trails... Skills... Views... Hmmm... FH Shelter. Rox. Searching for berries...
Rox ate some; super sweet. Aubrey. Eric Mellencamp (@MarshallWilliamHolly) rode w us on Sat. Sasquatch! Got his autograph. Home bound...until next season.
That place was a BLAST! The locals said that the trail conditions were "dry" I call BS! It wasn't even close to what us SoCal'rs would call dry. Traction for days! It was good to see and ride with Eric up there too. I haven't seen him since he moved up there 6 years ago. I just wish the drive was a bit shorter....
