Seems like really nice work, but I have never paid near as much for powdercoating as the prices I've seen. Must be cheaper in the Inland Empire.

Im not trying to poop on anybody's parade but in the motorsports community, its know that powder coating aluminum rims (that were not designed to be powder coated) can/will cause them to become weaker and crack under racing conditions due to the heating process. I know bikes aren't cast, and are made from a higher grades, but still something to think about. :?:

Olympic does really good work and are very good with not painting inside of bearing holes or BB/headset locations. We have recently used them to paint some custom CHUMBA frames and have used them in the past and had zero issues with frames breaking due to being stripped and re-painted.

I'm thinking about a tinted clear powdercoat over a stripped & raw aluminum frame. Think it would turn out looking somewhat like this (Intense raw works finish) i.e. would the tint be transparent enough to see the raw aluminum underneath???

this seems to be a great idea. couldnt afford to change my bike soon but for a little over 100, i get a new color for my bike. do you know if they can remove the dents or are the dents there to stay?

I have heard of Olympic and always dreamed of sending a bike in for custom paint. The cost is reasonable so perhaps soon. I was inspired by davidB's white Kona, so out to the garage I go and fifteen minutes later I had this.

I'm with slickshoe on this one. Another factor is that very harsh chemicals are used to strip the paint off and i have seen frames and swingarms form cracks from this process. personally i don't think it's worth the risk just to make the frame look good again. and i highly doubt that any sort of warranty would be honored if something went wrong. just my 2 cents

Help me understand this chemically induced crack. It would seem to me that the crack was already there. The chemical stripping just made it visible.

yeah, and anodizing chemicals are sooooo nice to metals....

i'm sure we shouldnt buy anodized frames as the coating weakened the frame....

oh no my frame is beign powder coated as we speak and it was chemically stripped, i hope it doesnt crack :lol:
