Before: After: (staying plain until I get my custom decals from some dude on MTBR) Thanks to service guys at The Path for getting it apart fairly quickly and putting it back together fairly cheap as well. :bang: The guys over at Olympic have an aray of colors. All your basics, plus some "metallic" looking ones, some textured ones (see maxwell's bike). when I asked for white, I was given a half dozen choices. They seem to powdercoat everything imaginable there, and they even emailed me when it was ready, then called me. When I got it back, I immediately thought, "wow, that's white" :bang: Now I just need to find more stuff I want to change colors
White is a classy color--you can never go wrong with it. When the time come that I would repaint my bike due to age and dings I would go white too. I also read somewhere that at Interbike, white is the 'in' thing...
D@mn, the more white bikes I see, the more I likes white! That color even makes your tires look bigger! Weird, man!
they're super cool carbon fiber patches! but yeah, i was actually just looking for some clear stick ons. you got the hook up? Lee, try this http://www.socaltrailriders.org/gallery/data/1789/konabefore.jpg http://www.socaltrailriders.org/gallery/data/1789/white300.jpg http://www.socaltrailriders.org/gallery/data/1789/white1.jpg http://www.socaltrailriders.org/gallery/data/1789/white2.jpg
The sandblast was included when I had my hardtail frame painted Dean/Kawasaki/Cal Poly SLO green a few years back. The paint has held up very well over the years and I wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend them to a friend.
That's pretty clean and sweet. David, got a ballpark on the cost to strip and paint it? I've got a project in the works. The 3M "helicopter" tape works pretty good.
olympic charged $125 and took 1 week. They said it would have been less if it was a HT and in one piece. I had mine in 3 pieces obviously
You sold me...I think I'm gonna have mine done in a few months....the white looks great on that bike.......
NICE! I like white bikes! they're just not for me :?: I crash too much.. Majority of the time I could bail out fast but the bike gets the beating! Does sand blasting affect the integrity of the frame? where is Olympic Powder coating located? why not paint? Doesn't powder coat get scratched also? I'm getting a DH/FR frame soon but I wanted it plain black....
DavidB, your bike looks rad. Here is mine from Olympic... couldn't be happier. They did the front triangle and linkeage, I stripped and polished the rear myself. I chose no logos as well and took the stickers off the forks (photo still shows them on).
