Nite Rider lights

I was thinking of that light as a second light for the bars or helmet to supplement my Flight but was concerned about the brightness of LED's

Havent used one before but I have played around with one at work. Seems like a pretty compact light and battery life is amazing! The brightness wont be good for night rides though. It would be a perfect light for commuting.

I wouldn't be so quick to say so. I have a single led light that on full power I can ride on the trail. It's not as bright as I would like, but it works. This light that PF has is a Luxeon LED. Much brighter.

Hey, PF, if you don't like it I might buy it off you. :)

If the beam photos on NiteRider's site are somewhat representative of the actual product, the Dual Minewt setup looks like it's brighter/crisper than the Trail Rat which is what I use and get by with okay. But I could see where something like the Nite Rider Classic would blow away the MiNewt deals, and after seeing that kind of output, additional candlepower is on my list of things to buy. Though it might be cheaper just to up the wattage on my bulb and buy a second battery pack to cover the reduction in runtime :D

one problem with led's are that they are monochromatic. you'll have a hard time distinguishing greens from browns. try it on a single track when it's pitch dark and you won't be able to tell the trail from the surrounding foliage. reason is that they don't make a truely white led, only whitish blue ones. i don't use my led light for anything other than commuting now.

Mike, HID man! We all know you're blind in the dark to begin with. \\:D/

Yeah, you're right about the HID, but I've been trying to set some money aside for a new wheelset for my ss. I guess I could afford both, but I've been trying to cut back on my addiction. (upgradeatitus)
