Good point.. I know my 2.5 Minions are about the same size as the 2.3 Specialized Chunders I used to ride on my old bike.. I'm thinking of going to 2.7 Minions on front and putting 2.5 on the rear instead of the 2.5 Minion / 2.35 High Roller setup I have now..

Great rear tire. Rolls fast, predictable in the corners, and is a perfect match to the DHF 2.5 in terms of size and purpose.

I agree.. it's a solid setup for sure.. was thinking a little more meat up front would be good, and if I did that the 2.35 in back might feel a bit thin in comparison to bigger front..

Depending on the bike setup, and the course, the 2.5 dhf and 2.4 dhrII is a great combo. if you wanted more of a dh setup, the 2.7f and 2.5r works very well.

I ride a 2011 CoilAir and the current setup is solid, but a little extra beef would be good for the alot of the trails we ride.. especially when heading to places like Bootleg Cyn..at a minimum I will go 2.5 and 2.5 but may go 2.7 and 2.5

How would something like a 2.4 Ardent work for the rear?

The ardent is a lighter and probably faster rolling rear than the DHR II. I have never run the ardent, but imagine braking performance and cornering would be better on the minion. I guess it depends on how hard you push your tires, what pressures you typically run, and how chunky the trails are...

The ardents stick to the trails for all mountain riding
