Was this challenge. Put roadie tires on my 29er rims, changed the SS gearing and voila. Ironic that the first caption is that he was out of uniform! The 2007 ride will be Sunday, March 24th.
Actually, I think it's not ironic because the point of the caption is that this dude did it without having fancy gear. "Doug Kubler, age 61, smashed the course record without the aid of expensive bike clothing. (KG)" In other words, it's roadies saying you don't have to be all tech and wearing the latest to ride. Which is the opposite of what most people think of roadies. Or, maybe that's the irony you're getting at. Wait, yes, thats it! It's ironic that a roadie would say that because everyone would expect them to say otherwise. Haha! I get it now! *please note that there is no sarcasm in this post.
Well, seeing as how that is basically just going up a hill, and you aren't really racing, then of course what you wear will not affect you. Try going out in regular clothes with the pros doing 30MPH+. Your shirt starts slapping you and thats no fun and it does create more drag, think of a parachute.
Patch says 33%, But I read where it was less then, but I can't find the specs on the ride, so let's go with what the patch says"33%"
The pubs says 33% which is just about right. On a pre-ride last year a fellow brought a digital level to check it out, near the top it hit 33.9%. Anyway its steep. #2 2005 Photo on my Kona Unit. 10 climbs, I decided to come back next year for another run. #1 2005 photo is Sean Bartilet now former record holder. He was 16th in 2006 VQ.
shhhh - something low. grannie-like. The key is to control your pace and not blow up. You'll see people come out, charge the hill and die 10% of the way.
