Very nice! What is that color called? Is that a singlespeed hub, the cassette shell looks short? Anyway, enjoy those wheels.....you're gonna love them!

You're not kidding about bling. I'm surprised that there arent more colored spokes made out there. It really adds some nice color and uniqueness to a bike.

The color is simply called copper....they offer custom color upgrades and this was one of them. I think the stock colors offered are red, black, and silver. That is in fact one of the great things about Industry Nine, unlike King or even worse, Hadley, if you want some colors you gotta wait FOREVER. These guys control everything. I cant say enough about how phenomenal their customer service is.

The quality is top notch. These guys did it right. They use ABEC 5 grade Japanese bearings which definitely are knows to provide serious durability.

As far as the hub, yes, it is singlespeed. However, this bike is going to be setup as a geared bike as well for me to switch between ;)

The engagement is incredible. Even quicker engagement that Hadley if you order the 6-pawl version which I did (ie, 3 degree engagement). And the hubs are like buttah.

Only downside is that they are not free :(

looks like a copper finish.. is this going on the new ventana?

yep....going on the Ventana. Just got the info that the frame is back from powdercoating as of last night. All I am waiting on are the cranks and rear cassette.

Droooool,
Excellent porn.

I can't make out the rim though.

yeah, those are relatively new rims and VERY hard to get actually since the production runs are behind.

They are Salsa Delgado Disc 29er rims. As far as 29er rims go, in my opinion, the perfect combo of weight/strength and they are pretty wide as well compared to others in the same category.

also got custom Maverick axle from them.....they just got the blessing from Maverick to do so which is cool.....never run a Maverick so I am excited to try yet another fork (I am a fork whore as well I think)

Ha ha, I was thinking those rims look big. I didn't realize they were niners. Gawd, that's purdy.

thanks man.....i am looking forward to. should be about 2 weeks for the bike to be done....still waiting on 2 parts to get there

Did you weigh them? Man I'd love to get another set of I-9 wheels for my Spot......wonder if Larry needs some more "testers" 8-[

I actually do not have them in my posession...my friend is building the bike up for me and he kindly took the pictures and sent them to me. He may try to weigh them tonight.

I was emailing with Larry this morning (wishing him a happy birthday) and he mentioned he has like 30 wheelsets in the queue!!! No doubt he would love some more I9 orders so he does not have to build them himself!

Damn! Yeah Larry told CalEpic a wheelset would be 4 weeks out, so I believe ya!

In case others are wondering about wheelsets, I can HIGHLY recommend, at the same level I can recommend Larry, my boy Chad from http://redbarnbicycles.com/ He and Larry are leagues above anybody else for wheels and pretty much anything. Both have excellent customer service and are about the nicest guys you will ever meet.

Tell Chad the Fo' sent you if you go that route. They have been my suppliers for a long time....both sell Ventana, Turner, and other high end bikes......and can get anything you want and know their stuff like no store around, except for the Path perhaps.

I got my 819/Pro II's wheelset from Chad. Cool guy, and he talked me though everything with my many questions. Took 2 weeks to get the wheels to my door.

those are b!chen looking wheels man! the bearings are also available from bearing wherehouses, easy available.nice!
they send extra spokes with the wheelset and will provide even more if needed....no special tools needed to true them so while they look proprietary, no worries which is nice.

Which Ventana?
Comandante, Padrino or Capitán?
Sort of between the Padrino and Comandante but technically, Sherwood said it was a custom El Comandante to include cable stops with a rear der hanger (instead of the bottle opener) since I will switch between single speed and 3 gears.....custom geometry and i went with custom paint. It is back at Ventana from paint so I am pretty stoked.

Only waiting on a couple of parts so a couple of weeks I am guessing.

cheers
