My latest art project

I decided to begin an art project awhile back and last night I took some steps into getting it closer to being done. It all started with a photo I took of the Metro BlueLine Train pulling into the platform here in downtown LB. I enlarged the photo, "tiled" it and printed it out. From there I trimmed out each piece, bought two canvases measuring 3x3 feet, some wheat flour, and a beer and had at it....I must thank my good friend for allowing me to do this at her place, she rocks!!!

Step 1:
Mixing the wheatpaste...

Step 2: Aligning the pieces before applying wheatpaste...

Step 3: Applying the wheatpaste to the pieces and canvas...

Step 4: Let piece dry (almost finalized)...

Step 5: We moved the piece inside very carefully and pointed a fan at it to aid in the drying process...and I put my signature on it...

The piece is still at her house and I will be applying some brackets on the reverse side to stabilize the two canvases. Final piece measures 3x6 feet.

great job my friend. im in the process of learning new ways to mount my photographs. i have a canon i9900 printer now thatll do 13x19 prints so i printed out some shots and glued them to some foam board. doesnt look too shabby but i wanna do some big wall size stuff next!

How did you tile it? Is that rasterized? It doesn't look like a raster but I'm just wondering.

Gurp, I printed it from InDesign and in the "Output Options", I selected "page tiling" and adjusted the amount of overlap that I wanted. As far as rasterization goes, no, I didn't rasterize it, it was a fairly lo-res TIF file that I placed in InDesign and printed. The quality really isn't all that bad, besides, it is a large format, made to be viewed at from a distance so you can't really tell the image isn't all that sharp.

You can get those markers (paint pens) from about any art supply store. Aaron Brothers, Michaels, etc...

The rasterbator is a cool thing to play with. It makes the print fairly stylized, though, but from a distance it looks pretty good.

lets talk bro. i have a few shots on the downtown LB area that could work out nicely for another project. the "friend" sitch is moving forwards. she wants me to do a piece for her and some of her family wants me to make them something too. (thats all i'll disclose on a public forum, lol ).
