Awesome to see there will be a good turn out. Sorry I missed out on the preride. I have done this century before, it's fun. There are plenty of stops with food and water. They carried Hammer products last year which was nice. I agree with Brian, the begining sucks, it is very cold in the morning. I think it's pretty bad on PCH too. I wore a vest and arm warmers last year but I had sheded them about 4 hours into the century. I also carried a camelpack too, I don't think I'll take one this year. I mostly had enough water in my two bottles to make it to each stop.

In only on the century since I'm doing the breakway long ride the next day also. Gonna be wearing black-and-white (no pimping team or shop) and tough it out in the morning cold.

Too bad about the road conditions. I figured with all the stimulus signs up with the roadwork around here that some of the canyon roads would have gotten some patchwork done on them after a few decades. Heck, even most of the Death Valley roads are being improved.

I rode Yerba Buena and Deer Creek a few weeks ago. Yerba Buena is in very bad shape but as long as you don't race down, it's not a big issue. We had a few riders get flats as a result of riding through there. And that's where Stacy fell down due to going a bit too fast. Deer Creek when I rode it had no debris but it's steepness was unnerving. I haven't dies of fright yet so I guess I'll survive it.

I'm in. It will be my first time. Just trying to survive. Haven't done nearly enough climbing to be "ready"...oh well.

WOW, Just to let you all know. THE 2010 Muholland Challenge is completely SOLD OUT!!!! 507 people are registered for it. This has to be a first for this event. I think there were only about 300 people last year signed up.

I did it last year, I didn't think the weather was too hot. I think it felt a bit hotter in part to the fact I was carrying a camelpack.

The Morning was great, I think the heat set in around 1 pm.

Add me to the roll call. Using my Niner air9 should be easy to spot. Plan on leaving around 7am.

Great training day for endurance MTB events.

I think Mike meant 2 years ago. In 2008 it was over 100, and it was brutal hot.

Thanks for the heads up. I finally registered for the Heartbreak Hundred in case it fills up too. I am now fully registered for all three events. Looking forward to getting my KOM jersey.

Got in my last training ride yesterday - running into Seam (RedHawk) on the ride to the trailhead. Rode Mt Wilson Toll Rd to Mt Fuji (past the switchbacks above Hinenger). Feel ready for Saturday.

Now I just need to get my bike working properly. I foolishly decided to replace a bunch of highly warn items (tires, brake pads, brake and shift cables) and cleaned everything. Got everything installed shifting is still way off.
