Looking to stay in the RV parking at pechanga. are there any close mtb trails ?
Fire Road would be ok, My wife is a beginner. A geoladders link I could download would be great !

Most of the hills around Pechanga are in their reservation and closed to the public. Vail lake is down Highway 79 south just
a couple miles outside of Temecula. There are great trails there it is $5.00 per person to ride there. Lake view good single track.
If you go past Pechanga east on Pechanga Parkway there is a series of fire roads .

The Santa Rosa Plateau is North on the 15 about 9 miles . Get off at Clinton Keith road turn left. Stay on Clinton Keith it will
head to the hills and begin to climb up the Canyon. You will pass a fire station on your left then the visitor center also on your
left about another two miles you will see the parking area on the right to Sylvan Meadow. It is $3.00 to park self pay in the
metal box. The Meadow has a nice gentle rolling loop perfect for beginners. There is also many feeder single tracks that
lead off the main loop. In my opinion this would be the most fun for you guys. It is a beautiful place with ponds and wooden bridges very scenic . There is a great Deli/market on the corner of Palomar Rd. and Clinton Keith on your right just before
head up the hill. They BBQ tri tip for sandwiches on most weekends they have an outstanding deli for picnic fixins there
are tables at the meadow also for a pre or post ride feast.

If you can I would do the Plateau it is a local favorite. the Vail lake trails are nice also. There is a camp store and a restaurant
as well. Nice picnic areas . A little more challenging in terms of hills then the Plateau. The lake road has a few climbs but has nice lake views. A lot of families do the lake road. They give you a trail map at Vail.

Here is the Plateau link;

I haven't checked Santa Rosa Plateau since the rain, but there is no way it's open right now. I expect it to be closed for a while after all this rain.

I agree with Bingle..Santa Rosa will be a mud pit for a while...Vail should dry up nicely, it is the best and closest place to ride as Falconer said.

They close the plateau after it rains? Since when? That's the time to see the Vernal pools.
So Cosmo the trails at Vail fare better after the rain? I have not been to Vail after the rain ever so maybe Monday I
will check it out.

Sylvan meadows is where u actually ride at SRP & yeah it'll be closed. The verbal pools might be open but its not legal to ride on that side. I agree though Vail lake is the best bet right now.

Wow, that must be a new thing we have been riding there in the rain after the rain for years. They must be cracking down
for some reason. Wierd because the meadows loop is quite sandy.

There is a lot of run off as the whole of SRP is a wetlands preserve. Those sandy trails get pretty soupy after a rain. The ranger usually closes things down for a bit....or at least he has been the last few years. Calling ahead may be best.
