Would spraying myself with oc spray deter a cat from attacking me. How about placing he lake Elsinore storm mean eyes on the back of my helmet scare the cat away???

I agree. You almost never see claw marks on lion tracks. They save those for mealtime.....

I usually take one when hiking, but not biking. That'd be the garden variety folding camping knife. I would take it out and open it if I run across a giant feline.

However, I'm pretty sure it would be nearly impossible to open and use one if surprise attacked from behind. That applies to the two legged animals as well as the four legged ones ;)

They were literally shoulder to shoulder with coyotes and other animals during the first few days of the fires.

I figured the Verdugo's would be choke with them all.

A lot of coyotes still roaming in our neighborhood, plenty of skunks, possum, raccoons as well.

Lots of missing pets as well, a lot more than usual.

I would not worry about it.......you have just as much of a chance of being struck by lightning as you would being attacked by a mtn lion. Go out ride and have fun.
