Yup. That guy's youtube channel is almost entirely dedicated to videos of that corner, and a few more on Mulholland.

My thoughts exactly, I used to ride the snake on my Triumph and so many people go down on that spot. Take a look at the guys other vids, there are quite a few examples of people target fixating or carrying too much speed and running wide, it's almost comical. This vid is the first time I have seen someone hit cyclist. Hopefully that guy had good insurance coverage.

I've ridden both the Rock store climb and Latigo as well as many of the roads in the Santa Monica's, but only during the weekday and not weekends. I've had no issues riding my road bike there. 2 each is own I guess.

Is that the location where the photographers hang out? I've noticed that whenever there's a photographer, the motorcyclists get much more reckless. Happens on Palomar too.

I was almost plastered a few years ago on the main divide by a moto so it can happen on dirt too.

Yah, I understand that but it's a lot more unlikely. Years ago I almost got hit by a SCE truck that was hauling a$$ on the fire road at the end of Faultline in Chino Hills State Park. That's why I said "probably"

True, the motorcyclist wasn't going very fast...but he was going as fast as he could. Like a lot of squid riders, he was probably looking 2 feet in front of his front tire. Once he see's the cyclist's you can see him panic, pull his leg off/brake about a foot behind them. I hope the cyclist was okay.

Heres an angle from another rider behind (his 'homeboy') which clearly shows several roadbikers before the turn so I cant imagine why the motorcycle would be surprised or even that far over to hit the cyclist. plenty of room and no oncoming traffic. another reason not to ride the road...

I've ridden the road bike up there a time or two, it's fun to hang out and watch the cars/bikes race around that bend, but I was definitely a little nervous on the road on the way up.

Yep, I knew that guardrail looked familiar. The day before this pic was taken, I had to call the meat wagon for a moto rider who went down on Piuma.

As crazy as the Santa Monica's are, I've still had more close calls on Main Divide with the motos and 4wd crowd.

Took me a while to notice the motorcycles. She's probably responsible for several motocycle accidents with those dangerous curves.

Ridden there multiple times. That stretch of road is super busy on weekends. You have lots of car/motorcycle clubs doing their cruises through there. There will be a dozen or more cars passing me up at a time. With that many vehicles passing you up at once...the exhaust fumes are so bad.

People are up there taking photos and filming all day long.

You'll see Leno hanging out at the Rock Store market with all the motorcyclists from time to time.

I rode up the Snake last summer on Sunday July 15th on my StumpJumper FSR 29er. But for me, it was a dirt climb: I stayed over on the dirt shoulder the entire ride up (you can see in the vids that there's usually plenty of dirt on the right hand side, though sometimes you have to get on tarmac for just a second or two to go around a flume or a tree or whatever). Took me 29 freakin' minutes, but I made it up in one piece. Some roadies were riding two abreast in the street. I had to shake my head. No friggin' way. Not on a Sunday!

That's the last big corner of the snake, where the MC strikes the roadie in the vid (or the first corner, if you're headed down to the Rock Store). The big LANCE jersey is painted on the road a few feet further up the hill from where this current thang all came down, and there's a big turnout on the opposite side of the road where everyone tends to hangout. I was a good five feet off the roadway to the right side when I went up it -- I was right up against the hillside that you see in the vid -- and the filmers and shooters who were out that day were pointing and laughing at me as I trudged up the hill. No one took my picture dammit. I just kept going, got on the Backbone Trail and made my way to the beach. I felt so much safer on the dirt...

Hopefully the roadie is or will be fine, but man, that is just some crazy shit to watch happen.
