Mob n Mojave is on for 2009

We will be holding a dual slalom race, super d race and a usac category 3 downhill race at Bootleg Canyon on February 14th and February 15th of 2009.


Full promotions, itinerary and all facts will be online by November 1st of 2008.


Here is what we have dialed in so far:
Dual slalom on Saturday 2-14-09
Super D on Saturday 2-14-09 (limited to 200 entrants)
Downhill on Sunday 2-15-09 ($2,000.00 pro cash purse)
Professional timing by one the best in the business.

3 trucks have been reserved for shuttles for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Plenty of time for open practice!

Online registration opens at 12:01 am on January 1st 2009. Happy new year and see ya at the race.

I am in the process of making an email list to send out our event posters.
If anyone has a favorite downhill shop that would like to display our poster, please pm me.
Not being from the area I sense my list may be shops that specialize more in road bikes. Yikes!
The next few months we will be getting the word out about this race to make sure it's the biggest and best Mob n Mojave ever.

Never been up to Bootleg. Heard its fun though. Look forward to some riding there before this race so I can get a feel for it. :bang:

That looks great. Is there going to be an old geazer beginner class in the downhill? If so, sign me up.

Classes will be the new norba classes. I believe pro men (open) & pro women (open), cat 1, 2 and 3.
Category 3 will be beginners. Category 2 sport and category 1 expert.
Each category other than pro (open) will start at ages 10-14, 15-18, 19-29, 30-39 and 40+, and have men's and women's categories. Something like that?

If any of the usac stuff above is wrong it will be correct by the time the online registration is set up.
Online registration will be ready between mid November and December 1st 2008.
Bike reg or Active? Not sure yet?

Mike, you are a godsend!!! I remember back in the day when there was an actual race series every year at Bootleg, including DH, Extended DH (SD), 4x and DS!!!!! I hope you can resurrect regular racing there, we sure have missed it!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and let's not forget "The yearly Gathering" as well!!!

 

My goals for Bootleg Canyon are competitive events and non competitive events.
Just starting this year with 1 event.
Watch out 2010!

4th Annual Mob n Mojave

 

We should hit BC some time soon.

My next vacation week is Dec 15-21. Anyone interested in going for a day or two, mid week, that week?

Still need a few more days to touch some stuff up but most information is on the site and easy to find.
Working on a Race n Stay package with a local Boulder City Motel. There will be free on site camping but I have always liked the idea of all inclusive packages. One that would include your room, registration and shuttle fees.

 

Are you using the original DS course? Any changes?

 

The original Dual Slalom course is the plan for now. I am still in (cold and damp) Lake Placid, New York. I will be heading out west t Boulder City (or my business partner) by mid December. We will now a lot more by then.

It seems that there is much interest for Dual Slalom at Bootleg. My timers have been warning how long ds takes, so we may have a limit of 100 for the ds?

Our web site went through tons of changes today (just put up the new banner), and online registration should be ready by next week.

Event poster should be ready by in a couple of days, so local bike shops will all be aware in the next week. Dam this is exciting. I do get as excited doing this stuff as I do riding. It will be awesome meeting you west coast racers.

I love this part of the country but after living in the desert last winter, all I can say it it's nice to live where it's always sunny and warm. By next year at this time I hope to set up a permanent winter residence out west. Hello Bootleg Winter series 2010!

 

We have our courses decided for the Mob n Mojave.
We have an awesome Super D course for this race. Just awesome! I was concerned this route would be too short. Well it was timed by a pro last week at 9:58. I no longer think this is too short of a race course.
He timed the downhill course at around 3:35.
Both courses finish right near the restrooms.
